What People are saying
Worked for us.
Mike Non 02/07/2017 02:02This was a large room with a huge bathroom all for a very decent price! The room was very clean and the staff was GREAT!
We had a problem with the television and the maintenance man repaired it and this made us happy. The breakfast was ok. The toilet and shower both did their jobs great!
The motel was close to all the sights we were in town to see.
Clean inexpensive rooms
gho4on 30/06/2017 22:08The rooms are clean, parking is limited. Access to the highways is very convenient, however the breakfast area had an odd smell which seemed to be part sweat and part heavily scented candles so we passed on the "free" breakfast.
VERY LITTLE PARKING, but otherwise a good location
StumpySirakon 03/06/2017 23:19We took this room because of the price. One thing a person driving past would notice that you can't see from the internet is the parking: there is very, very little parking, and if the motel is full, you will not be able to park nearby. This is something that should be noted in the advert as this proved to be problematic for us.
If you can get to your room early and no one is around, grab your spot and not move your car, then you will not have a problem with parking. If you have to leave for food, visits or anything else, be ready to spend a long time seeking a place to park as the street next to our building has a fire hydrant inconveniently placed just opposite of the drive in front of the rooms. There is a small dirt lot for "trucks" but I would not recommend braving that with a new vehicle as most of the traffic that I watched attempt to park there were either rookies, partially blind or drunk... or so it appeared to me (for the record, I am a CDL holding retired Truck Captain in the Fire Department, so I can drive anything backwards - watching the trucks was quite comical, but it would not be remotely funny had I parked in the "truck parking" area).
Other than that I found the rooms to be large, well maintained, clean, and pleasant. Our bed was King sized and there was plenty of room for me to run from my overly aggressive wife as she can be dangerous when sleeping (LOL).
The bathroom was wheelchair accessible (but access to the room door wasn't, unless I missed the ramp up to the walkway, which I may well have completely overlooked in my distress over the parking). As I am disabled and limited in motility requiring a cane at the least, but I am able to walk most of the time (with a cane, of course), I found the bathrooms to be more than ample with rail hand-holds to get in/out of the tub. I didn't ask specifically for a disabled room, so this was pleasant and something to remember about the rooms should i visit again.
The location was excellent as well. Directly across the street from a CVS and Walgreen's pharmacy which is in the parking lot of a strip mall with Chinese food, Pizza and a grocery store. There is also easy access to get to downtown for sightseeing Mark Twain's boyhood home. It was easy to turn left across traffic in the mornings when no one was out and about however I found that during traffic, it is easier to turn right, then go past the underpass and turn around. There is a light to turn into the grocery/CVS.
One more thing that my wife and I think people should know about is: the coffee pot
I am not sure if there was some kind of Allen Funt wanna-be prankster who supplied the pots to the motel chain, but the pot was more of a dribble-pot than coffee pot. No matter how slow or careful you were bound to spill as much as you poured into a cup...
Access to things in the area is good, and I can't complain about the price or amenities. I enjoyed the stay and would rate this much higher except the parking debacle.
decent stay
mschaef1227on 30/05/2017 18:01Stayed here for overnight trip to area. Clean room and friendly staff. No elevators to upper floor and no pool if you need that. Breakfast was so so. Internet/wifi worked ok. Easy to find but a little hard to cross street if going in that direction for any reason. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area.
Great hotel, great value
RoadGuys2on 20/05/2017 23:04Stayed here before in 2012 and was pleasantly surprised. It's an older place tucked in the corner of highways 36 and 61. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with micro, fridge and coffee maker. Both the room and bathroom are large and easy to get around in. Biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast with an extremely helpful staff. All for around 60 bucks making it a great value. There is a mall across the street and It has outside, park in from of your doors. If there was an outdoor pool the place would definitely garner a 5+.
