Should have looked here before booking.....
Brook Fon 05/02/2017 02:38The pictures, description of this hotel on their website is, well misleading at best? This hotel is old, run down, and had a drug bust going on when we pulled in. It had a strange feeling to it, it felt unsafe. We went to check in and quickly decided against it. Luckily the person working check in was pleasant. We quickly moved to another hotel in the area.
Very Rundown and lack of housekeeping.
missboop13924on 08/09/2016 22:25Me and my husband booked this room early in Jan, 2016 for the month of Sept, 2016 for the Darlington Race. I called to confirm reservations to make sure we get a ground floor room, for we had two pets coming with us. So we get there after driving in the storm that was going on there. Go in to check in and the lady told us we have a third floor room. But we said we have our dogs with us and asked for a 1st floor room. She said they was out. So I can put you on the 3rd floor...I said that was fine...as we had been driving for 12 hours and it was storming due to hurricane Hermine so we paid for the room. So when me and my husband and pets get up to the room...The first thing we smelled was the mold has my husband is allergic to mold...and the room was just disgusting and my husband looked at a chair, that you could see the mold growing on it....very lack of housekeeping I started to get light headed from just the smell itself. My husband said we can not stay here it is just horrible. But the plus side is they did reimburse us the money and we appreciated that. Do not believe the pictures they are very deceiving. I do not recommend this hotel.
Worst experience EVER.
Stacie Aon 04/09/2016 17:30We're from Texas. Not very much surprises us, although our home in Texas is lovely, some parts of Texas aren't! So we pretty much thought we've seen it all... Until we arrived here. We got in at about 3am and just wanted a place to rest after driving 15+ hours nonstop... Big mistake.
The rooms smelt old and nasty, like dirty sitting water and cigarette funk.
There was mold on the ceiling and in the bathroom.
The wallpaper trim was falling off due to mold being under it.
The carpet was gross and full of stains
The TV was older than my grandma!
The bed was supposed to be a queen sized but was barely even full sized.
The pool was "under construction"
The elevator was NASTY and was borderline on its last limb.
Even worse, the woman at the front desk (the big one) was just RUDE to say the least.
I wouldn't recommend this place to my WORST enemy!
Run down and lack maintenance
Maria Jon 03/07/2016 22:50Very run down, reception area and everywhere, from elevators, corridor, carpet to room itself. Dirty general areas. Pool is emptied out and has no water. Breakfast is minimal and I saw cups and cutlery are tucked under the table on the floor itself after breakfast is over. Hygiene issue.
Childhood Dreams Shattered
stevena765on 10/01/2016 15:22My grandmother worked at this property for years in the 70's and 80's when it was a Holiday Inn and she was very good friends with the owners at the time. As a child, I remember visiting her there and swimming in the pool (owner allowed) and fantasizing about staying overnight in one of the rooms. As an adult and seasoned business traveling I will say I was disappointed.
The hotel is not the worst but it is also not the best! The rooms need updating badly! Metal items that are rusted need to be replaced and carpets thoroughly vacuumed and they should touch the wall. Fixtures and counters in bathrooms need to be updated. Because of this properties proximity to downtown and the hospital, with a good update I believe it could once again see the prosperity that it once saw, now it is being neglected.
