What People are saying

It was ok.

gingerh133on 21/06/2017 23:32

The staff was very friendly. The air was messed up in the room I was in and they were able to move me so I would have working air conditioning. The room was clean. However....the breakfast area was kind of dirty and had gnats flying around the juice machine. Also, there was only one bowl of butter for everyone to share so....that's kind of gross! The lobby's smell was terrible because it reeked of cigarettes. But for just staying a couple of nights I guess it was ok and they were accommodating to our big group.

Decent One Night Stay...

We were just passing through town and decided to stay for the night...this was a clean and friendly spot. We stopped at a couple of other hotels in town and they were "sketchy" to say the least. We were pleased with our one night here.

Terrible No Customer Service

My wife and I went to Helen to celebrate or 43rd wedding anniversary on the weekend of 6-2, As a fellow Hotelier I was very disappointed with my stay. I manage a La Quinta Inn & Suites property about 6 hours away. Since La Quinta does not have a property nearby, I chose this property due to the proximity to the waterpark and the fact I have family that works for Choice.

Upon arrival in the lobby I was greeted by the front desk clerk who remained seated the whole time I was at the front desk.

When I got to the room (118) I noticed a very heavy smell of air freshener. The air freshener was so heavy I had the lingering smell in my CPAP machine for about a week as the air filter absorbed the smell.

The furnishings look like they were from the 1970s. The only thing that was modern was the Television. I was unable to hook up the wireless internet as the only network that was showing was the Waterpark next door. I again stopped in the lobby and the clerk again remained seated. I asked about the internet and she replied the provider was working on it. This was around 8pm. I returned to the hotel at around midnight and the Internet was still down.

The bed was very uncomfortable as I could feel every spring in the bed and they would make noise when someone rolled over. The light fixtures in the room have many rust spots and the bathroom wall next to the bed had damage to the wall where the wall vinyl is coming off and we all know what could be hiding under there.

The bath room floor and bull nose the base tiles are extremely dirty.

I attempted to find another hotel in Helen for Saturday, but due to the Motorcycle convention everyone claimed to be booked up and I was unable to check out. The internet never came up on Saturday nor before check-out on Sunday.

Upon my departure the Front Desk clerk again remained seated. She asked me if everything was alright with my stay. I told her no and that I requested a call from the GM or Owner and gave her my business card. As of 6/13 I have not received a call or an email from the GM or Owner.

Not a good place to stay

First of all TripAdvisor only showed us staying one night and we had reservations for two nights so when we got to the Econo Lodge they only had us for one night which messed everything up. As for the hotel the toilet flap would stick and you had to lift the bowl cover to push it down so the water would fill. The room had been a smoking room converted over to a none smoking room and you could smell the chemicals they used to make it smell better, which really affected my wife's allergies. The bed on spots on it and the bottom sheet would not stay on no matter what you did. The extra lock on the door was broken. They had the Shriners there and they would bang on our door and were just plain disrespectful as they blocked the entrance to leave and we had to get the office person out to get them to move. I know they are a good Organization but those that were there and had contact with were just plain out of hand.

Dirty could use a good cleaning.

We stayed there for 3 days. We were hiking and it served its purpose. Ask for the hiker rate if being shuttled there. In need of some constructive criticism. Which I can help with. Hopefully you heed my advice and make it a better established. Which it could be. When you walk up to the building it is beautiful. Front desk lady was very kind. And will give you a good rate. Her daughter is learning. Nice girl. This is where it ends. Rooms are ok average. They are lacking maintenance. When you have a dim light. Fix it. End room 131 over the bathroom sink. Guest should not have to tell you. It's up to your house keeping and maintenance. Give them a note pad and have them write it down. Communication is key to success. I appreciate what you do to help your staff. They clean rooms for their room and live there. They do work hard. But pay someone by the hour. For example 1 house keeper per 10-15 rooms per day as needed. Not 2 people for 70 something rooms when they get time to clean them all. If you have guest take care of them. And clean their room every day. Guest should not have to go after clean towels and toilet paper. Breakfast bar was filthy. Keep the crumbs wiped up. And for goodness sakes throw the rotten bananas away. They were brown the first day were black the 3rd day we were there. I know it was a extremely busy weekend for you. These are things that can be accomplished and have things run smoothly with good help and communication. Could be a nice place. Just needs a good scrubbing. Internet is not working the best. Having problems with their server. But was told they are working on it. Can get better service in office area.
