Decent hotel, especially for the price. Pool is not open.
Daniel Yon 15/06/2017 15:57Room was clean and comfortable. Had a table with two chairs, a desk with chair, and a fridge & microwave. They do offer a small selection for breakfast: cereal, toast, pastries, juice, coffee, etc. Nothing fancy but good. One negative is that the pool was closed and not a drop of water in it so I suppose it is never open. Free wifi and nice selection of cable channels. Plus I had my dog with me and this hotel allow pets with a $10 per night fee. So it is a decent hotel if you are not expecting more than a clean, comfortable room.
Not the greatest
jollyguyon 13/03/2017 12:10Arrived to find wifi out and was given a cable for wired net. The reception person didn't know where I plugged it in and said the manager would come to hook it up. He never showed. The place is dirty and dated, and though they allow pets, they don't have any amenities for them, other than a postage stamp size area to walk them. Give this one a miss
Great place to stay
Sapana pon 10/10/2016 21:17I was looking for a hotel to stay for the night in Hobbs and ended up staying at Econo Lodge. Friendly staff, clean lobby, neat and clean rooms. The rooms were newly renovated with LED lights. Small but good breakfast was served in the morning. Overall was a great experience.
Huge Disappointment!
kjhtulsaon 04/06/2016 23:15Reserved 4 night stay. Arrived at hotel to find that the pool is dried up, not a drop of water in it. The front desk clerk says that is "the pool is seasonal"....hello, it's June!! Advertised a pool and that is what we were expecting. Our teens were hugely disappointed (as they had planned to jump in the pool right away as we had been in the car for 10 hours) so I called customer service to see if we could back out of the reservation as it usually requires a 24 hour cancellation. The first person there suggested that we unpack, stay one night, repack and find another hotel the next day since I had to give at least 24 hours to cancel. When I pointed out this was their fault, I was put on hold for awhile then they disconnected. Out of desperation, we went ahead and checked in for 1 night, made a reservation for the 3 remaining nights at Country Inn and Suites, which only costs up $3 more per night and has a breakfast buffet, indoor pool and hot tub and doesn't require 24 hours to cancel. They will get our business from now on. Lesson learned, never stay at Econo lodge....furthermore, no Choice hotels again! That's what I get for trying to go on the cheap :-(
Prepared to write a great review until the morning...
Chrustayon 21/10/2015 19:33I'd read the reviews, most of which were highly complimentary and was looking forward to staying here. Apparently motel prices in the area have dropped since the last time we were here as prices were much more reasonable than in 2014 during the oil boom. When we arrived we noted the parking lot was being resurfaced and it appeared that outside upkeep was a priority (I did note that the stairs to the upstairs rooms needed to be repainted - maybe that's next?). Front of desk service was great and the fellow behind the desk was personable. The rooms were relatively large and fully furnished with microwave and refrigerator, everything was clean including the bathroom and shower. The water pressure was, thankfully, great! Wi-Fi was free and worked well. The room was very quiet. We were one of six cars in the parking lot in the evening when we arrived but obviously several other guests arrived later in the evening. We heard nothing all night and into the morning.
So far, so good. At check-in we were told that breakfast was served between 5 and 9 , one hour earlier than most accommodations in NM and we were pleasantly surprised as we like to be up and out early. I went out just before 6 to get some breakfast and the door was locked and breakfast was obviously not yet set out. I went back for a shower came back at 6:15 still no luck... and at 6:30 when we left and headed for McDonald's there was still a locked door and no breakfast. Wish I could write a glowing review. Maybe this was just an aberrant occurence because we were there on a weekend?
