What People are saying

Seems improved

Driverjoeon 04/02/2017 09:38

I reviewed this property in 2013. I still stay here on the corporate buck using the clc card. It's still operated by the same people. I'm giving them the same marks but I will say I do see some improvement. I have always stayed in the same room upstairs 234 . Positives: very clean, newer towels and linen, comfortable king size bed. Improved: Attitude of the guy at the desk, much friendlier, much cleaner than in 2013, flat panel TV, newer carpet, a fridge that works, hvac unit that is newer or just upgraded, no spiders but this is Feb. Overall I was ok here this stay. If they upgraded all the rooms I'd say you will be ok here too. Caution the stairways are VERY steep, no elevator, so if that's an issue insist on a downstairs room. Room to park an RV, trailer and even a tractor trailer, places to eat nearby.

Last Resort ONLY

Rooms are very small, smaller than a Microtel. Two people will feel cramped. Funky smell (really, how much does Febreeze cost?) Extremely dated, and repairs were obviously not done by professionals. Fixtures were old and cheap - including the worn-out analog TV, Nothing at all to recommend this place. Cheap, cheap, cheap...

During the fall viewing season, you can pay $180 or more for rooms in Traverse City or Petoskey. That's no bargain, but at $75 this place is worse. At 40 bucks, I'd say it's good enough if you're desperate. But at 75, it's a total rip-off. Not worthy of the Econolodge name.

Rude Live-Onsite Owner

Very Rude owner! Called for a wake up call it was shortly after 1 am the owner answered the front desk phone (think he was sleeping he lives there) and was told it was TO LATE! What?? He refused to call and didn't! I have never been told this at a hotel or motel! He also gave me the third degree of questions when I wanted to fill the ice bucket, he felt it necessary to stand watching all the while telling me "the ice is not for coolers!" I wanted it for the room! Because of needing accommodations last minute the price to stay was $140 per night, and went with Econo vs unknown hotel, what a joke! The room was ok clean but the bathroom floor is caving in you can feel it when you step on it. The rudeness went beyond incompatibility. I will stay in a tent before I would ever consider staying here again! Wish I could give a minus zero!

Rude

The room is clean enough it is an average hotel room with a small refrigerator and a small microwave. The problem is not with the facility it is with the owner. I put some creamer in my coffee and it was all congealed so I asked him where I could dump it out he told me to take it back to my room and dump it out or to walk all the way across the parking lot and dumped it out in the grass and then had the nerve to yell at me when I put it in the trash can because I don't work that well. And he didn't just yell at me once he decided to repeat it 5 times. Needless to say, next time, I will sleep in the street before I pay him to stay here again. If I could give him a negative review I would have done so.

I would not go back.

One positive it was very very clean. The bed was so bad when you sat down the two ends would go up in the air. None of the decor matched so it wasn't inviting. The tile in the bathroom look like a two year old put it in. The same two year old painted as well. It's close to the road so it was very noisy. We paid $140 a night wasn't worth it. I know it's peak time but still. Somebody needs to put some money into the place. Will not be back and will not recommend.
