Very noisy hotel. Limited service from staff.
Reena Pon 25/08/2017 15:58We stayed here one night after walking the Inka trail. Staff were not friendly in Reception. Room was clean with basic facilities. Food was limited by fine with some limited choice for vegetarians. Hotel was very noisy. Open corridors allowed noise to be amplified. We could even hear an alarm going off in another room down the corridor!
Terrible Experience
kamloopsscotton 24/08/2017 04:03We stayed here one night after hiking part of the Inka trail and going up to Machu Pichu. We had a terrible experience. The noise in the hotel and across the street did not end until after midnight. This despite being assured by the front desk that we would have a very quiet room. When we got up at 2:30 am to shower and get ready to line up for the bus, there was no hot water. When I told the person at the front desk that there was no hot water, she told me there was. I suppose she could not notice that I was still shivering. The only word to describe the included breakfast is "meh". Much below other hotels we have stayed in while in Peru.
This hotel seems to be striving to be upscale and missing. We were very unhappy with our stay. The rooms are small. The showers are awkward. One whole side of the hotel faces onto a very busy part of the town and is noisy.
1 night stay
Pueblo85on 23/08/2017 00:37Very good, clean hostel with excellent staff. The bed and the bathroom were very nice and the location is great. It is a tiny bit noisy as there are windows separating rooms from the corridors but in general it was great.
Surprisingly Higher End Accommodations
Stacey Son 21/08/2017 02:12Overall:
This hotel is situated up a hill one street away from the main street. It is a bit of a climb, but everything in this area is. It is less than 5 minutes to either the bus to Machu Picchu or the train. The hotel has a medium sized lobby and a gift shop. We were promptly attended to and our rooms were as described. The hotel is terraced so if walking stairs is a problem ask or a lower level room. We were in building 5 and you can get winded at this altitude. There is a bar and a restaurant. The staff was friendly and spoke some English. There are a ton of shops and restaurants in the area. Try to ask a local for recommendations.
Room:
Our room, 524, did not have much of a view, but it was quiet and comfortable. The beds were on the firm side but were fine. This is a higher end hotel for many we have stayed at in Peru. The bathroom, with one sink and a shower, had amenities, including robes. There are U.S. and European plugs. There is adequate storage, a table and a chair in the room, so overall it was nicely sized. I always judge a hotel by the quality of sleep and we slept well without disruption save a few slamming doors as people were coming back to their rooms.
Food:
We ate at the restaurant for dinner only. The food was very good and service was excellent. Try the sparkling Peruvian wine. The loma saltada was very good.
WARNINGS:
If you are here you probably are going to Machu Picchu. You MUST buy a bus ticket ahead of time or you will have an arduous walk. Middle of the day is the best time to buy your ticket and they do take dollars and MasterCard. If you do it in the morning or evening expect to wait over an hour to buy. You MUST have your passport.
If you are going to Machu Picchu the first bus leaves at 5:30AM. You need to be in line by 3:00 am IF you are going to Huaynapichu and want to catch the first bus. We were in line at 4 and missed the first round of buses. We were at Machu Picchu by 7. The lines in the morning are exceptionally long going up. Coming back down you can wait up to 2 hours. We waited around an hour to come back. Plan accordingly. There are only 25 buses and the trip up takes 25 minutes so if you miss the first round of buses you have to wait for them to round trip.
Nice hotel, nice bar in the center of Aguas Calientes
Sergiocrandonon 20/08/2017 21:30We spent one night waiting for our trip to Machu Picchu. It is not an expensive hotel and maybe not the most luxurious, but we found this hotel very nice and very well preserved.
We loved the restaurant and mostly their bar. The rooms were big and so the beds, and it is seconds away from the bus stop to Machu Picchu and from the train station.
We strongly recommend this hotel.
