Wow, wow and ….
Ben Hon 04/06/2017 04:58Wow! Simply a must do. What a unique and utterly amazing place. We stayed here for two nights and didn't want to leave, couldn't have been happier. Living ‘la dolce vita’ is Vernazza - such a welcome respite from, well, modern life!
Camere Elisabetta is pretty easy to find from the train station, though if you are not fit, I suggest you travel light or get some assistance with your luggage up the stairs as it is a trek!
We’d corresponded only via email and had agreed on a check-in time window that corresponded with our train schedule. Upon arrival we simply called the number on the door and five minutes later a delightful couple (I think Elisabetta and Joseph but I'm terrible with names!) arrived to greet us and he kindly hoisted one suitcase onto his shoulders for the final ascent to our room, halving my load - a welcome relief after climbing up the past 200 or so steps with both mine and the wife’s bags! They then both showed us the features of the room (does have wifi but yes, not super fast - but hey, you're in an isolated, ancient fishing village be grateful that you can just connect!) and gave us helpful recommendations on best places to eat, etc. They were lovely and friendly.
The room was simple, small, but very comfortable, and the view is ‘pinch yourself’ stunning and one of the most impressive I’ve seen in my travels. The quirky room is not much bigger than the bed, and a fabulously comfortable bed at that (most in Italy are rock hard!), we slept soundly listening to the waves each night with all the windows open. The bathroom is tiny, but more than adequate and very clean and tidy.
The room had its own private little balcony overlooking the sea and you could also use the roof top terrace as well to soak up the view over a few ice cold Moretti’s that you earned from your climb up to the top!
Located on the path to Corniglia, it is an easy trek to the fantastic clifftop restaurant La Torre where you simply cant miss going for dinner as the spectacularly perfect view back over Vernazza to Monterosso al Mare at sunset is permanently etched into my memory. I also thoroughly recommend doing the hike one morning to Corniglia, more jaw dropping views reward the 1.5 hr effort. Hike there, lunch and train back.
Anyone that can’t relax and find enjoyment here and just take it for what it is, quirks and all, well they just don't get Italy. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful roof terrace
Livemmaon 03/06/2017 21:57We found this place easy enough, up a few steps but that's all of cinque terre anyway.
Room is good, aircon works well and small fridge for a few bits. Very clean!
The owners were there cleaning when we arrived and we checked in early, they were sweet and friendly to us.
The roof terrace is excellent, views are amazing up there and we spent so much time sat playing cards and just looking down on Vernazza!
Quiet little place above the very busy town- was wonderful
Thanks, ciao x
Great location - would recommend 5* besides two main issues
James Eon 31/10/2016 20:05We chose to stop for a night in Vernazza whilst travelling along the Italian rivera from Monte Carlo through to Rome. I think we did a good job because Vernazza was great to us for the night. We chose Camera Elisabetta because it was a good price on booking dot com and the view looked the best.
I can confirm the view is one of the best and the night we sat out enjoying a bottle of wine we could hear the local opera club practicing across the valley - couldn't have written it better. The room is located up a few steep flights of steps so just a heads up. Room is small, quaint and perfect for a night or two stop over - you might want a bit more space if your staying longer but it was modern and clean - brilliant.
Two issues we had which put a bit of a dampener on things:
WIFI stopped working so no internet to FaceTime family and show them how nice it was.
Shower was cold. no hot water
I couldn't see anyway of resolving these issues because Elisabetta doesn't stay in Vernazza so it was frustrating.
That being said i would recommend and stay there again purely for the view.
We arrived by train - Vernazza is a car free town and it looked a lot easier to catch the train from La Spezia and go back on ourself than drive the twisty roads. from the train it was literally a 5min walk to the room.
Aaaah Vernazza
Shane Lon 15/10/2016 02:38We stayed here for two nights and couldn't have been happier.
Joseph and Elisabetta were more than helpful. The place was a little bit hard to find and because we wern't up to par with handling European phone numbers we had to track down the address ourselves. The locals were very helpful here. Be prepared for a bit of a climb through the narrow alleyway full of steps to the unit but it was worth it all when we made it. The view from our balcony was breathtaking, and the shared roof top balcony was even better. The room was small with A/C and bathroom was a tad small as well, but hey who"s spending time in the room when you're in Vernazza. Wifi was adequate for travelers like us but if u plan on watching movies or such it's intermittent.
It's a fair hike with suitcases to the room from the station but we found out AFTER the climb that there's a bloke at the station who'll carry them up for u for a couple of euros. It's worth it it , FIND HIM. Joseph and Elisabetta thank you for a wonderful experience.
Gorgeous Water Views!
Marcia Bon 12/10/2016 21:16Lovely place to stay in Vernazza (Cinque Terre). Elisabetta's hotel/affittacamere has wonderful views of the sea. You can feel like you are right on the water. The views from the top of the hotel are fantastic and overlook Vernazza. Worth the price of walking many steps uphill to the hotel. Be prepared for the walking and hauling your luggage because the views are worth it. Loved listening to the waves at night with the windows opened. Located close to the restaurants and points of interest in Vernazza and on the Cinque Terre walking trail.
