I've been wanting to skydive for many years. There was always a reason not to. So my son decided it was time for me and he booked a day for the two of us to go. Its a great bonding experience when you jump out of the same plane with your son. The staff at Skydive Philadelphia was great. From the time you check in everyone is very friendly, accommodating and professional. Once you sign in at the front desk you will need to watch a short video and then fill out all the paperwork necessary for you to basically say if you get injured or die no one is responsible. The reality is if you're jumping out of a plane you really should know it's not the safest thing to do and there are risks. Obviously your hope they place does there job and uses good solid protective equipment which thankfully for our jump it was. We opted for the GO BIG jump which brings you up to 14,000' so you freewill for over a minute. We also bought the best video package they offer. I already received my 192 photos and almost 9 minute video from the and its only been a few hours since our jump. Risa was the videographer that also jumped with me. Matt was the instructor that I was hooked up to. He made sure my harness was properly attached and very comfortable. Risa was as friendly as can be. Making my laugh and making sure I knew to look up often so the entire video wasn't of the top of my head. She took video and photos from the time we are getting put into the harness, entering the plane, n the plane as we jumped, flying through the air and was on the ground video taping the landing. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect video to capture the entire experience. Matt my instructor explained EXACTLY what was going to happen as it happened and guided us to a perfect landing. The scenery was beautiful. The weather was perfect. I did feel a bit nauseous and when I told Matt he explained I should have eaten before going there. Use that tip and eat a meal before you go. We had 11am time scheduled. We were on time. Be aware that times can vary due to weather or other circumstances beyond peoples control there. Plan to spend a few hours and don't be upset if you wind up spending those hours. Tips are not expected but if you have an experience like I had I would recommend showing the people you appreciate how they treated you. I would highly recommend the full video package because it will be something you'll have for generations to come. If you get an email to fill out paper work you don't need to bother because you will have to watch the video and then fill out the paper work the day you get there on a iPad. If you're using GPS make sure you allow toll roads if you're coming from NY. If you don't allow toll roads you'll be taken through some small one lane roads. We learned the hard way and didn't realize the toll roads were blocked. The address we went to was 1300 Schoolhouse Road. Perkasie, PA 18944
Good staff, friendly and accommodating in terms of making your tandem dive as thrilling or calm as possible. Basic building, not much there, bare bones facility.
Hi,
I paid $80 for a package to get my pictures and they haven't been able to locate the pictures for me. I have called 3 times and still have not received my pictures nor have been refunded. Customer service has been terrible and they are ignoring me at this point. Waste of money, dont buy the picture or video package.
It was a very special experience. My fear vanished when I saw the beauty of our planet. We are truly blessed!!!!! My instructor was awesome....caring and made me feel very comfortable AND SAFE.
I am an Indian Resident and was on a visit to USA. I wanted to do this for a long time and due to wind and weather it was getting postponed finally to just one day before my return to India. The thrill was whether it will be or could b done at all. I understand this is a weather dependent sport.
JUMP was Fantabulous !
I got excellent advance instructions from CHRIS and I think I followed it well.
I boarded the aircraft first and jumped with Chris in the end. As i saw 5/6 people jumped before me I never had a slightest element of fear. I was told that the actual fear is when u r at the door u have goose bumps but I must share that on that day I had none.
Due to clear weather v had the Good Luck for additional 15-20 seconds so in total the free fall was 50 seconds. The wind during the free fall makes your skin and face expression weird.
It was exhilarating. It was warm on that day but during fee fall though the breeze was cold but the enthusiasm of jump kept body warm.
At a distance one could c skyline of Philadelphia in one direction and a little far Skyline of Manhattan on the other.
I am very satisfied with the safety instruction and jump but equally troubling was the Administration part. It was tough to get on line. Either u landed in a voice mail or "u are caller number one" and ultimately a voice mail.
However email response was faster. When I mentioned this at the office before jump I could c that they had shifted on the other side of Runway and the Admin part will be smooth now.
I have learnt elementary meditation and I found out that the extreme sport allows u intense moment of mediation. V r staying in present moment as v become free from Baggage of Past and Concerns of future. u r just in the JUMP watching slowly the earth rising up and holding u in her lap.
