Great Time Great Place

We stayed at the Embassy Suites from Friday, June 2 to Sunday, June 4. The area is downtown Buffalo. Four blocks down you could catch the Trolly for free and go to the Canal District. We went there for an Art Festival and there was the Navy Museum and large ship you could board, a ferry that took you across to an island with other things to do. The ferry was only $2.00.

The room was extremely large, lots of extra floor space if you had to add extra rollaway beds or cribs. Bathroom was huge but didn't have a hook to hang your hand towel which was inconvenient and no fan so it got hot in there after a shower and you had to leave and let it cool off before you could finish your hair, etc. It did include a blow dryer, bigger than the ones you usually get at a hotel. The towels were rough and felt they were probably time to retire.

We had an end unit suite with two queens in the bedroom, windows around two walls. Very nice comfortable beds.

The living room had a sofa with a pull out bed, a chair, TV, and desk with two chairs so it could also be used as a dining table. One wall had a kitchenette area with sink, half size refrigerator and microwave. This was nice because it also have a large mirror so if you had several people in the room and the bathroom was occupied, you would use this area for makeup, hair, brushing teeth, etc.

We used the pullout bed in the sofa which felt like it was a hundred years old. Very lumpy and uncomfortable. Probably the worst pullout bed I have ever slept on.

This place is valet parking only, $20.00 per night. We had three rooms and many people. One valet person was great and helped us with luggage onto a cart and even took us to the service elevator to get to our rooms because there were so many people waiting for the elevator and it was taking forever. My sister however, got a valet person who did not help her. She was alone and frazzled. She took out one bag and went back for the second and they took off with her car. They had to bring her car back so she could get the rest of her stuff. They should have been a little more attentive to a single woman traveler.

The elevators just seemed very slow. I think it was because you had to use your key card to get it to go and maybe it took people a while to figure that out. They had a couple busses of kids and they were all jammed in the elevator area waiting to get to their rooms.

They had complimentary happy hour each night from 5:30 to 7:30. They would make any kind of drink you wanted and wine and beer. It also included veggies and ranch, chips and salsa and hummus. All was very good and the drinks were made pretty stiff. Definitely a good time except for the people who thought it was appropriate to take small kids to happy hour with drinking adults. I'll never understand that????

They also include complimentary breakfast. The breakfasts were wonderful. They had a guy making omelets and you could have anything put into them, bacon, ham, turkey, spinach, peppers, mushrooms, onions, etc. Delicious. Also had the usual, strudels, fruit, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, premade waffles (a little soggy but still good), cereal.

Overall it was a good experience. The employees were wonderful (except for that one valet guy). We called for extra towels and they were at our room within a half hour. Front desk was very helpful for local information and directions. For the price though I didn't feel the luxury you would expect. It just felt a little above ordinary except for the hugeness of the rooms.

Not a traditional Embassy Suites (with open indoor floorplan) but the rooms were large and comfortable. The windows are full-wall on the one side, and my room had a nice view of the courthouse and a decent (distant) view of the lake. A zillion TV stations, which is nice compared to many hotels that just have a few. Usual manager’s reception with cheap wine and beer (Pabst, or Genny light), but “free”. Breakfast was the usual (sans bacon) with cooked to order omlettes and some fruit and a little bread. The room for breakfast and drinks was small relative to the number of people (barely got a table at breakfast). But a great location and overall worth it, so I’d stay here again. One downside: Only valet parking, but they were very efficient. Tip: Check out summer scene along Elmwood Ave on the weekends when the weather is nice. Nice neighborhood shops and fun. Restaurants: Osteria 166 very good, Racklettes very French at extremely reasonable prices for that type of food.

They do a cocktail reception each day along with breakfast and the service is terrific. The pool is a little small but the rooms a spacious. Sear which is the attached restaurant is terrific. It is downtown near other restaurants. Keep in mind this is valet parking only and there is a $20 fee on your bill per day.

Spacious clean and modern

Very friendly staff. Check in was easy. Only valet parking.
(20 added onto the hotel bill.)
But it was convenient being in the city and we didnt have to worry about where to park the car.

The rooms are very large and nice. There was alot of space. When you first walk in there is a room closed off from the bedroom. It was equipped with a mini fridge, sink, microwave, table with chairs, and a full size couch. The couch was also a pull out. Very spaced out. We came for a wedding and had family and friends stop buy and there was plenty of room. The bathroom was big and clean. Good amout of towels and soaps. There was even a blow dryer that was equipped with attachments. The room with the beds was big too. Nice huge windows that overlooked buffalo. Bug thick curtins for privacy and kept the lights out. The beds were very clean and comfortable.

The halls were clean and quiet. No noise problems at all!!

Complementary breakfast. Big variety of foods. Made to order Omlet station, sausage, bacon, eggs, cereal, fruits, muffins, juices, milk, coffee. They had alot to offer. The food was good and the service was fast. They even picked up our dishes as well.

The staff was very helpful and polite. We forgot something in our room and they had no problem letting us go back up even though we had already checked out.

All in all I would stay again and highly recommend this hotel!

Great rooms, even better service!

The rooms are spacious and clean, safe and secure. From the moment you pull into the drive, the red carpet service begins. Valets were awesome, check-in was a breeze. If you need something, they are on it. Other than an incident with a guy at the front desk named Steve forgetting a late night request, all was made right the next day. While sitting at dinner at Sear, the resteraunt attached, which by the way is amazing, I received an email from Ally a manager. She stated that the valet noticed a tire on my vehicle going flat and asked if they could take care of it for me. What?!?!?! I was floored, while I ate dinner, these people handled my problems! Now that is customer service! My wife mentioned that we should start making it a priority to stay with Embassy Suites in the future. I must say, if this is status quo for this chain, they have my business! Thank you Embassy Suites for making me feel at home, better yet, thank you for making me feel like family!
