Charming garden
NHSDteacheron 30/06/2016 18:39Simple B&B run extremely well. Evelyne is a wonderful hostess. She treated us like royalty. Try to spend a little time in the garden--what a peaceful little enclave. This is also a part of the city that's set off from the touristy section, which makes it feel more like authentic Florence.
close to the historical centre
yvonne_kouon 16/09/2015 19:23these rooms are part of the house that two ladies live, mother and daughter.they are very discrit...you can't feel that you share the home...a big room with the bathroom inside...with a yaurd where you can drink your coffee...and with a parking place...the on ly thing i didn't like is that next to it is a police station, so it's a little bit noisy sometimes.
Beautiful place to stay
abimakeson 18/02/2015 22:13Lovely small and charming B&B hosted by the friendly and helpful Evelyne. Our room overlooked the wonderful shared garden - complete with cat! We would definitely love to stay here again if we return to Florence.
The Perfect Place To Stay In Firenze !
sienapjon 16/08/2014 17:07We have been guests of Evelyne's at Emily's Rooms each year since 2009. When we plan our trip, we do not even consider staying anywhere else in Firenze ! Evelyn has always taken such great care of us on each visit from the moment we arrive until we have to say farewell. The rooms are beautifully decorated, immaculate and very comfortable . Being able to walk out to the lovely garden and find the table set with linen ,china, and laden with a fabulous and most delicious selection of food ....that is very special treat ! Even the butter is remarkable, and what a feast we enjoy each morning ! Evelyn makes the best cappuccino and a light as air omelet if you wish , and my husband certainly does ! We know that dinner reservations , museum tickets and whatever we need assistance with will be efficiently taken care of by Evelyne .We definitely feel very spoiled by her attention to every detail. Being so close to the historic center is a huge plus for us. We can walk easily everywhere, and there is no need for a taxi. We always plan a stay at the gorgeous Hotel Villa Elda in Siena , and it is an inexpensive bus ride from Firenze .About an hour traveling through spectacular countryside, it is also an easy day trip . There really is no need for us to rent a car in Firenze with Santa Maria Novella Station and the bus station next door. Traveling to surrounding towns and cities is quite easy to navigate . We feel so fortunate to have been quests of Evelyne's at Emily's Rooms on our first visit to Italy .We have happily found it to be the perfect place to stay in Firenze. and this is because of Evelyne ! We are counting the days until we return this year ! Until then grazie mille to Evelyne. We can not thank her enough for all she has done to make our stays so wonderful . Peggy & George
Disappointed
gillian mon 15/06/2014 18:07Emily’s Rooms are set within a beautiful building furnished with lovely things and the accommodation is very clean. We booked it because the location is great and the garden looks appealing on the booking website, definitely a selling point for us. Unfortunately, our experience was not a positive one. We booked the basement apartment because it looked and sounded ideal for three of us during our short stay in Florence. We arrived on a very, very hot day at lunchtime after a long journey. We knew that booking in was not until 2.30 but hoped we could leave our one shared case in the hall, quickly freshen up and return when our room was ready. When we rang the bell to say we had arrived we were met with an irate, aggressive woman who shouted at us because we were too early. We apologised repeatedly and explained that we didn’t expect the room to be ready. We think it was Emily but she never did introduce herself and did not make us feel welcome at all (despite later saying that we should treat her house as ours). We were offered a cup of coffee while our host checked our passports and counted out our cash payment. We were reluctantly allowed to freshen up before being handed a map and ordered out! Later the same day when we returned and unpacked, we wanted to enjoy the sunshine and relax in the garden. We were amazed when we were angrily denied access for the whole of that day because the garden was being watered and tidied up! We had no air conditioning and only tiny windows in the basement so it was pretty depressing not being able to sit outside. We were not invited to use the communal space in the main accommodation and had to ring the bell to the main building to ask questions about how the shower worked, where the nearest bus stop is, what the password is to connect to the internet etc. Eventually we were provided with a key to access the garden but only because we complained about having to ring the door bell all the time and we wanted to enjoy the lovely garden. A young woman, who might be Emily’s daughter, did step in and help us with queries about how to work things in the apartment and she was very pleasant and helpful. We didn’t need to cook (other than to prepare our breakfast with supplies from the supermarket) but it is just as well because the equipment/utensils in the kitchen are too basic (e.g. two tea cups between three people, no wine glasses etc). We will definitely be returning to Florence but not too Emily’s Rooms.
