Quiet Hotel Overlooking Beautiful Lake

The Estalagem Lago Azul is a beautiful hotel overlooking a large mountain lake. It was a very quiet location although our visit was in the off season (October). Seems like there would be a lot more activity on the lake during the summer months. There is a large (unheated) outdoor pool and an elegant dining room with very good food although a somewhat limited menu selection. A full buffet breakfast was included with our room. The croissants were amazing. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

The hotel was only a 40 minute drive to the town of Tomar and the Convent of Christ.

We had some difficulty finding the hotel as it was not listed on my Tom-Tom GPS. I was able to find the hotel later on google maps so perhaps my Tom-Tom needs to be updated. In general, you will have to navigate to the town of Ferreira do Zezere and then follow the signs to the Lago Azul and the Aerodromo on N348. Go past the airport for a few kilometers and you should see a sign for the hotel.

Please note that the hotel keeps chickens and birds in a large enclosed area near the hotel and the rooster began his crowing in the early morning hours (before daylight). With the windows closed and the room ac/ heat on, however, this was not much of a problem.

Excellent choice for Ferreira do Zezere

This hotel was a very good surprise. We stayed for a weekend in August with our friends and it was just lovely. The hotel was very clean, the staff was very nice and helpful. The pool area was ok, with accesses to the river and to the restaurant down the road. There's a lot of water activities at the beach and you won't be bored if you're travelling with friends. The only downside is the food at the hotel restaurant - a bit too pricey for what it was. Eventually, we chose to have our meals some place else.Other than that, the hotel was very good.

The rooms were big and clean. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. Wifi worked very well. The hotel has a kind of a mountain chalet decoration, it was very cosy and the views to the river were amazing. There's a games room also, where you can play table football, pool and table tennis.

Very good choice and I definitely recommend it!

Very nice hotel for rest near the lake

It wasn't busy, the location is very beautiful and tranquil, the rooms were nice and the food was good. We had a nice long weekend on this hotel. all rooms have nice views of the lake, some of the rooms have a balcony, but the surrounds of the hotel are very comfortable, if you just dont want to be on your room.

This is a lovely hotel. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were very nice.
We had a lovely view over the lake but no balcony- you need to book a suite if you want one.
Do not book this hotel if you have trouble with stairs - there are stairs everywhere and although they have a lift this does not go down to the pool nor the lake.
The pedalos are free but we found out by accident, we were not told.

Very nice place to rest.
In a beautiful pine forest, with a blue lake, the Estalagem Lago Azul offers a nice service. Great view from the bedrooms.
However the bed is a "old boat", where you sink to the middle.
