What People are saying
Fantastic service, comfortable rooms, decent breakfast
NMKTraveleron 15/05/2017 00:22I stayed at the Fairfield Inn while attending a conference at the Austin Convention Center downtown. I did not rent a car but relied on the Supershuttle for transportation from/to the airport. When I called the Fairfield Inn before my trip to ask if they might provide me with a gallon of distilled water for my CPAP, they said they would do it--and when I checked in, without having to say one word about that, they cheerfully handed me the jug of distilled water. That's excellent service!
I took the shuttle at their neighboring Courtyard hotel to the Convention Center each day (it dropped folks off at the Courtyard that is diagonally across an intersection from the Convention Center) and took the return shuttle back to the Fairfield Inn (direct run just for me). It was very convenient and the drivers were very friendly.
The provided breakfast bar included a hot breakfast (cheese omelets, scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereal, etc) that was decent.
The Courtyard downtown let me check my luggage in at the last day of the convention, which was very convenient.
I would definitely stay there again.
Great Stay!
winepoureron 07/05/2017 16:12We were here for a swim meet. I was a little concerned because of recent negative reviews. Not to worry. Stay here! There are many hotels to choose from in the area. We would stay at the Fairfield South again. Friendly staff, clean and roomy rooms, hot water, great breakfast! What else do you need?!
70s Thro-back, no "W"
ressie123on 27/04/2017 02:43First and foremost; the photos and reviews for this location are deceiving. I believe the reviews are folks that travel so much, or may not be accustom to better accommodations, or perhaps they didn’t stay on the first floor.
The person mopping the hotel lobby, stopped; and hurriedly threw on her front desk cape, yep (one in the same)! She was cordial, polite and pleasant, which are all synonyms of fine. I was travelling with two colleagues and we were all recipients of complimentary water. Yay!
Originally, we’re all checked-in on the same floor. I believe my room was 121; they (my colleagues) were in the lower 100s. The rooms on the first floor, I suspect, have not been renovated since 1970. When I walked into my first room; I was met with a heavy, damp and musty smell, so obnoxious; I had to call the front desk. Granted, I was switched to a smell free accommodation immediately, but it was only upon request. If I’d never said anything; they would have happily let me reside in the room they issued. (#smdh). They did not have a comparable room, I assume; so I was issued/ungraded to a 3rd floor suite; (term which I will use loosely). Might I recommend 3rd floor over first floor?
I was so exhausted; I had no energy to fight any further. Here is where I’ll be staying for the night.
Every piece of furniture, wall decor and lamp shade in the room is a shot-out straight out of the 70s. I half expected Huggy Bear to pop out of the closet (which was one foot from my head/bed); Huggy Bear: Look man, this grass is Alabama Creepin' blend, as opposed to Georgia Creepin' blend. It's lighter.
The carpet was, you guessed it, installed in the (70s) AND heavily stained, Huggy Bear’s bong water stains throughout! I hope you packed socks, because I highly recommend them. The bathroom and everything was clean, I have no complaints on that front. The bathroom is lacking in that, you should watch your shins; and “that’s all I have to say bout that” (Forrest Gump).
Next morning; I overheard one of my colleagues express her discontent over several non-paying guests in her room, cockroaches and other unidentifiable critters. She was comped (completely). However, I was initially charged full rate for the room upgrade (I was forced to move to) and I was force to relent. They gave me a $50 credit.
Long story short, DO NOT STAY HERE unless your standards are “sub-standard!”
Above and beyond customer service
Dana Mon 17/03/2017 02:28This review is very late since we stayed January 14-15, 2017, but I need to share my experience with Sarah. We were in town for a belated Graduation Party at a local venue on the 14th. My teenage daughter inadvertently dropped a brand new ring down the bathroom drain. This would not have happened if there was a stop in the drain. On Sunday morning when checking out, I checked out and told Sarah that the switch for the a/c heater did not work, and that the stop was missing from the sink. I also explained that my daughter lost a ring down the drain
She politely explained that she would have facilities folks fix the heating unit and install a stop in the sink. I did not care for location of this hotel as it is in more of an industrial area. The rooms had been updated but overall, this would not be my first choice in this part of town if it weren't for Sarah. We went home that morning and about two days later my daughter's ring arrived in the mail. She went above and beyond with providing me the customer service I have come to expect from the Marriott brand.
Wonder Staff
87daledon 14/02/2017 05:10A true home away from home. The most wonderful staff. I travel a lot and when I came in the door it was like I was home. Very nice room and close to everything in the Austin area. Very comfortable beds and lots of room to relax. A must place to stay!
