Ask for a non smoking room

Recently renovated with better sized bathroom. As non smokers we did object to the smell of smoke. Soundproofing was not good either. However for the price paid we were happy. Pleasant service and breakfast.

What do you expect for the price

Yes it was basic but it was clean and for a late arrival it did what it said on the can. Stumbled over this chain in Toulouse when we missed our flight and am happy with the basic cheap stop overs they provide. Booked Tours when we planned our trip and expected to be there about 6pm - we rang to say we were running late and needed to know how to get in - not a problem the guy waited for us - above and beyond in my book.

Read reviews before booking

We recently stayed at the Fasthotel Tours as it was part way to our final destination with my husband and child and friends. I really wish we had read the reviews first. The only good thing I can say is the breakfast was good and the water in shower hot. We had a room on the first floor that smelt like someone had been smoking in it, the decor was very tired and the carpet had started to come away; there was a hole in the wall that formed the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny and you had to step up 4 inches to get into the cubicle that formed the bathroom; you had to be careful as the shower tray was close the floor area and at risk of flooding it. The lighting in the room was poor and it took us a while to realise you had to turn each light on individually. As it is a budget hotel there is no air conditioning, whilst we were on the first floor and could leave the window open due to lights from the car park had to make the decision whether we would have air in the room which was stifling in July or darkness. I was also a little surprised to find a tissue come out of the bedding when we got in. Due to poor level of French I was unable to express my unhappiness. Really wish we had spent a few more pounds and gone to another hotel.

Dissapointing

We arrived at the hotel after a long drive and where looking forward to a good shower etc but unfortunately the room we were given had a shower head that did not fit on the wall properly. taps on shower & wash basin very hard to turn. The toilet flushing handle came off each time you flushed & the overhead bedside lights did not work. On request the bulbs on the lights were changed & then worked ok. Of course nothing could be done about the shower, taps & toilet apart from giving us extra towels to mop up the excess water. If the room had been checked before it had been occupied perhaps these faults would have been found. We realise this is a Budget Hotel but surely basic facilities should work.
The breakfast & breakfast area however was excellent & service attentive.

Families beware!

I booked this hotel as an overnight stop on the way to the dordogne as it advertised 'family rooms'. At 62euros i wasn't expecting much and boy thats what it delivered. The family room was two rooms divided by a connecting door which at first we thought was a good idea but when we saw the children's room we were quite frankly horrified. The bed which was supposedly meant for two was no bigger than a single and with clashing walls, bed linen and curtains looked like a dodgy students bedsit. Add to this the large cigarette burn on the bed cover and quite frankly it was awful. However determined to press on we got settled and after a long drive my husband decided to take a shower in the bathroom/wet-room. The shower was actually quite amusing at first. Either you had enough pressure which would shoot the shower head back against the wall shooting an arc of water over the toilet (an interesting concept peeing and showering at the same time) or you had to have it as a dribble which had little effect. Add to this how the floor became seriously slippery after use and frankly this hotel is dangerous. I went in after my husband and sustained a quite spectacular fall injuring my elbow and back - beware children or pensioners! I went to the front desk to complain but surprisingly the gentleman who had spoken reasonable English the day before had suffered an amnesic episode and was unable to communicate with me at all (maybe he too had fallen in the shower and bumped his head) i should at this point say that there is no signage on the wet-room door saying that floor will be slippery when wet - in most places i have stayed a particular floor tile is used in wet rooms to reduce this possibility.
I was also deeply concerned regarding security at this hotel. We stayed in ground floor rooms with windows which opened wide enough to admit a grown man and no way of controlling how far these opened - apparently a small piece of wood across the bottom was considered sufficient. As a parent of two children i found this very worrying and would strongly advise against people with children using this hotel. As a result we had to sleep with windows closed which was in the heat impossible. The following morning we honestly couldn't get out of there fast enough, breakfast was a pretty basic affair of cereals and croissants which at 5euros I didn't think was unreasonable but hardly made up for the appalling nature of the hotel or the unhelpfulness of the staff.
Quite frankly I would rather sleep in my car than stay at this hotel again. Maybe its called Fasthotel because literally you can't get out of there quick enough.
