A weekend in Denmark
villasolboon 05/06/2017 13:18The hotel Marina was a good place in Denmark. We like the coast and the seastyle. We walk around with our little dog, who enjoy the sea-water and the softely sand. Very good parking for the car. Nice bar between the reception.
Capitalises on it's position to the extreme!
Iffy42on 04/06/2017 03:51I had the recent unfortunate experience of staying in this hotel for business purposes and was very disappointed by the whole experience.
From the outside, it has the charm and beauty of a 60's council office - grey, bland brick that looks like it has never been cleaned since the day the last bit of mortar set.
There is an equally sad looking terrace outside with worn out, faded cushions and, as this hotel offers absolutely nothing in the way of an evening meal that you might like to eat alfresco, totally pointless!
Unless, of course, it is a nice evening and you just fancy taking your beer outside. However, if this is your plan, then you're nice evening is about to get ruined when you get the bill for your beer.
There is no competition for this hotel in the area (hence TA saying that it is No. 1 of 1 hotels in Vedbaek) so, knowing they have a captive market, drink prices can only be described as extortionate.
We had the unfortunate experience of a cancelled flight on our return so ended up staying in the extremly grand Bella Sky near the airport. By comparison, instead of sitting having a £10 a pint beer in the vacuous, dull, and frankly boring lobby of the First Hotel Marina, we found ourselves 23 floors up in the Sky Bar having a beer in a light airy location with amazing views over Copenhagen having paid just over half that amount instead.
As for the room, other reviewers have noted a 'drain' smell and, although it was not strong on the room I stayed in, there was certainly an undercurrent.
The room itself consisted of a small entrance hall (where the light worked), leading off one way to the aforementioned 'aromatic' bathroom (where half a light worked) and to a small living room the other (where no lights worked). From the living room was the, admittedly large, bedroom (where only one bedside light worked) with a double bed that you would sink into on one half while barely denting it on the other side - in other words 'worn-out'.
Oh, I must mention the amazing tea making facilities in the room. After a hard day at work (or a hard night trying to balance on the lop-sided bed), you might just fancy turning on the kettle and having a nice cup of coffee. Well, forget it. The entire tea making ingredients in the room consisted of two cups, three plastic stirrers and two Earl Grey tea bags. No milk, no sugar, no other options.
Breakfast is a buffet style with fruits, yoghurts and the such for those who like to remain conscientious when staying in a hotel, along with more continental fare such as cooked meats, bread and cheese. There is also a hot option, which is unerringly similar each day consisting of scrambled eggs, baked beans, sausages that would make a chipolata look like a foot long hot-dog and some strange life-form that seems to grow in heavy grease that when eating tastes not exactly like but, not entirely different to bacon.
All in all, not impressed!
First Hotel Marina - if you love precision!

Nice place in a wonderful location !
Mats Son 16/05/2017 09:25Have a wonderful stay in a hotel who has seen better days but where the friendly staff and the wonderful location by the sea and the beautiful summer weather we had during our stay just give it a big smile.
Utterly disappointing that survives only by its location
Tina Mon 13/05/2017 17:52The hotel is nestled in this quaint and picturesque harbour in Vedbeak but don't be fooled by the lovely location - the building from the inside is so dated and worn you wonder how have they managed not to update anything in the hotel for 30 years. I am afraid to even think what the back-of-house facilities look like. Rooms resemble one-person dormitory-like conditions from the 70s where taps leak, pipes make noises and drains smell. You are forced to realise that the owners do this because they can - next hotel is a few km's away. This place is purely sold on location, which you have to agree is beautiful.
