What People are saying

Nice cabins

Michelle Pon 18/05/2017 23:15

This is our 2nd stay in one of the cabins. We love the cabin, nice setting on the river. Staff is friendly and the cabin was clean. We would stay again. Only drawback to cabins is they are a little pricey.

Was stranded in alpine due to road closings and it turned into a Wonderful experience

Very nice facility. It exceeded our expectations and the staff were "out of this world" friendly. We ate in the bar and met some of the Nicest people every. The food at the steakhouse in the hotel was Excellent Great location on the Snake River. You will Not be disappointed. The rates were extremely reasonable as well.

A mix of 4 star and Motel 6

The Flying Saddle in Alpine is probably the nicest place to stay in Alpine. It has a beautiful main lodge with a nice restaurant and bar. While they do rent cabins, the main hotel is actually a "motel" with rooms that are entered from outside. I paid $80 a night which was a special deal over the holidays but in comparison to the rest of the country, I'd have to say its a $69 "motel". The room was very large but the small 32 inch TV is so far away from the bed that I needed binoculars to watch it from the King Size bed. I really had some issues because this place could be a very nice place and yet there were things that were so low budget feeling. Cons: 1) The towels were slightly worse than the white towels you got for high school PE. They have been washed 10,000 times and are very thin. Why they wouldn't buy new towels for a place that could be very nice I have no idea. 2) They did not shovel the walk ways and we received a few inches of snow every day. 3) The coffee provided in the room in the little coffee maker is absolutely horrible. 4) Free Breakfast - Stale bagels, English muffins, orange juice, milk, and dry cereal is all you get. The coffee in the main building is only slightly better. We ate at one of two breakfast places in town nearly every day. Pros: 1) They have a special meal in the restaurant for holidays like Christmas Eve, New Years, Valentines Day etc that even attracts the locals. The Christmas Eve meal was phenomenal for the price. The salad bar had sushi, steamed clams and crab legs as well as salad fixings. The main entrees were Prime Rib, Tenderloin, trout almadine....sides were garlic mashed potatoes, veggies and they had a pretty darn good dessert tray too. You could go back as many times as you wanted too. They DID NOT have drawn butter for the crablegs....we asked for it and they never brought it. Again, why ignore such details ? 2) They have a special building with a heated (80 degrees) indoor pool and hot tub. While I would have preferred outside hot tubs, it was clean, warm, had bathrooms for changing and the towels there were actually better than the room towels so we brought a bunch back to the rooms! 3). They do keep things clean and the people there were very nice and service oriented. 4) There is a small liquor store in the main building and they prices were very reasonable. 5) We had some below zero days. The rooms were incredibly warm with zero drafts. Plenty of hot water

I have heard the prices in the summer are off the charts. Even if desperate, I would not pay more than $150 for a room here in the heavy busy season. To Management: You could do so much with little things (like the towels) to probably bring this place up two stars.

An old fashioned retro style ranch resort

This was a sweet accidental find! The room was huge, and although it might use a bit of updating, it was very clean. We slept well in the comfortable bed. We enjoyed the cute little courtyard type setting for breakfast. We didn't eat in the steakhouse restaurant for dinner, but it sure smelled delicious!

Convenient, scenic

We booked a room here for one night. It was a planned stop between driving from The Grand Tetons to Blackfoot ID. The scenery along the Snake River was beautiful! Our room was quaint and cozy. It was comfortable. There were all sorts of amenities that we did not use(pool, basketball courts etc). We booked ahead, and they advertised no vacancies that night, however, there was only a few other cars there overnight. Our room was in the building furthest from the main building, on the main floor. We parked behind our room and were easily able to unload the car by passing luggage over the patio railing. We wanted to eat at their "Steakhouse" but the hostess frantically suggested that they were too busy(4 tables were filled) and we would have better service in the adjacent bar. It was louder, with TV's going, and not exactly what we had hoped for but the service and food were both satisfying. The interaction with that hostess was just plain weird. She seemed completely overwhelmed with her duties. Had there been more choices in town, we would not have stayed there.

They offered complimentary Continental breakfast in the morning. The bagels were probably the best I ever had.

The only complaint I had was that our building had doors to the exterior on each end which were key entry, however, when we returned from dinner they were propped wide open to the outside elements. I called the desk and was told they would be closed at 10pm. I didn't like the response. We closed them for safety reasons, not to mention it was very cold and dark. In the morning, when we went to breakfast, they were propped open again. That is something that seems like a safety issue to me. Why have "security" measures in place if they will be ignored?
