Flop House with surly proprietor!
_finsdogon 23/06/2016 04:48The reviews of this very run down and dirty house are extremely misleading. The location is downtown but that is about all it has going for it. The pictures on the website must be at least 10 years old although if one looks closely at the user pictures, the mold is the apparent. Our room smelled awful and everything in it was old and shabby.
Excellent Getaway!
235graciacon 17/02/2016 19:44Fantastic spot to stay in Astoria, the house is lovely and well kept. The owners are gracious and make staying with them feel like home. We were given keys to get in and out of the house and our room which made coming and going very easy. The room was spotless but has great old charm and character. It also has some quarks from being old but I think that is part of the charm and didn't mind at all. Our room had a small television with a dvd player and the owners have a stocked shelf of dvd's and vhs's for viewing. They also provided a radio in our room and there was a cabinet full of board games to pick from. Becky was great when it came to breakfast. She provided a full service table setting with nice china and everything you could want or need. My husband and I are vegan and she had no issues feeding us. She offered toast with avocado & tomato, fruit cups, and oatmeal plus tea or coffee. For the non-vegans they had waffles or pancakes with eggs and fruit cups as well. It was a nice communal breakfast where we had a chance to chat with the other people staying in the house. This was the only time we saw the owners and other house guests during our stay. We will visit again for sure, great experience all around!
Comfy bed, good food, friendly people
garryejon 24/08/2015 22:07We were given the top floor. It's a long walk up for older folks but worth it. You get the entire top floor! Large bathroom with claw foot tub, cosy tv/reading area (with a collection of DVDs, including "Short Circuit" which was filmed partly in Astoria), comfy viewing window over the river, complete with telescope and binoculars supplied. And above the comfy queen bed? Glow-in-the dark stars (!). You can walk down the hill to the Maritime Museum, Riverfront Trolley, good restaurants and other attractions nearby. Also, walk UP the hill and around the neighborhood to see streets full of 19th century houses all on the National Register of Historic places. Your host,or the tourist office, can supply a walking guide.
Great location
seacruiser2on 13/08/2015 06:22We stayed here 2 nights recently for the Astoria Regatta. It's easy walking distance to everything downtown. Astoria has lots of good restaurants, cute little places to poke around in and close to lots of sightseeing. The owner was wonderful and so were the breakfasts. We stayed in the Starlight Suite which was on the 3rd floor (no elevator ). It had a great view 9f the river. All in all, a good place to stay in Astoria.
Birthday trip
