Lovely hotel, lovely location
Melissa Mon 13/08/2017 11:07The hotel is right on the river and handy to shops and restaurants. The train station is also within walking distance. Many local attractions are only a short drive away and the scenery is amazing.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

goldenhind24on 12/08/2017 07:47if you are thinking of visiting the bernese oberland,then thun is a cheaper option to Interlaken¬ so touristy.We enjoyed our stay at frienhof.It,s close to the station,bars&restaraunts.The staff were all very pleasant.We didn't see many minuses.We asked for slippers;not a problem.We even splashed out on having 2 items of clothing laundered;they came back spotless&well pressed.We had a very small terrace to look out from;handy if you smoke.(Ashtray provided)
Centrally located and modern Thun-hotel

It is located in city center - from the railway station just follow the biggest street straight forward and after 7 minuts walk you are att the hotel.
Fast check Inn and out.
One bad thing is THE check-out time - 10.30!! I get it prolonged/sprawled to 12.00 but...
The room was anyway very good and comfortable. A extra plus för the balcony whith view över the Ester! The cleaning is however not 100% perfect. Here some improvment can be done!
In need of tlc
Dick Fon 27/07/2017 08:59A bit tired - the rough bedroom walls had what looked like mound, but was probably accumulated dust. Bed was comfotable. No worth the price charged. Access to hotel is difficult at present due to major roadworks in town, so Sat Nav directions. Charge for parking.

Joy Jon 19/07/2017 12:39Excellent location within easy walking distance of railway station, right by the river & old covered bridges in the prettiest area of Thun.
However the attractive exterior of the building is not matched by the weirdly modern & utilitarian interior - it feels very much like a faceless corporate hotel on the inside.
Our twin bedded room had a minute balcony ( only one person at a time could be out there) but had nice views.It had no air con & was extremely hot - we had the balcony doors open but the magnificent Aare River in full flow is mighty noisy!
Rooms are small & beds set at an angle leaving corners jutting out & easy to knock into - I had the bruises to prove it!
Kettle & cups supplied but no fridge.Bathroom fine & clean.
No English speaking channel on TV
10 am check out was OK for us but unusually early - which makes it strange that the check in time of 3 PM is very late! We arrived at 2:15 pm & our room wasn't ready.
Initial check in service poor - we asked about having half board but receptionist was unsure of procedure & made such a big deal of it that we decided not to bother ( lucky for us as there is an exceptionally good Italian restaurant just opposite hotel which we very happily used during our stay) Reception staff improved greatly during our stay.
Breakfast was OK nothing special.
Overall experience was underwhelming & a degree of sadness at the lack of character left in what would have once been a charming place.
