Nice hotel, great location
Binnenalsteron 20/08/2017 19:24I really like this hotel! It has a very good location, just across the street from the Hauptbahnhof. Rooms are spotlessly clean and the hotel has a nice, slightly old-fashioned atmosphere. A free travel card for the public transportation (HVV) is included in the price, which makes the stay here good value for money. However, breakfast is not included in the price, but that's just an advantage, since it is possible to save money by having a cheaper breakfast somewhere else (for instance at the Hauptbahnhof). I have stayed here twice - once in a room with a very nice view to the Hachmannplatz / Hauptbahnhof, once in a room to the backyard - and I'll definitely come back.
Good location - average hotel
seanyboy77on 14/08/2017 16:02You'd stay here for the location which is 30 seconds from the Central station. You'd stay near Central station because it's easy and a direct train to the airport (the hotel gives you free public transport tickets during your stay which include a train to hotel), and not necessarily for its desirability. There are a lot of homeless, drug dealers and prostitutes in Hamburg and a lot of them are within minutes of the hotel.
The hotel is clean and efficient as you expect a German hotel to be. I booked a single and certainly got a single. It was tiny. It had everything I needed except air con and imagine on hot days it would be very uncomfortable and airless.
The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the shower worked well, although if you're anything over an average build I have literally no idea how you'd fit in it.
Only a couple of English channels on TV which is always annoying if not the end of the world when you're on holiday. Wifi is very good though. Can stream video with no issues.
Staff have the typical German efficient but lack any real warmth or welcoming personality.
The hotel is a bit of a maze so if you have mobility issues you should ask for a room on the reception side of the hotel otherwise be prepared for a mini marathon to get to your room
So overall it's a functional and clean hotel in a central location that is 'fine' for a night or two
Fantastic location
Pete Gon 29/07/2017 10:52A clean, friendly, pleasant hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is literally across the road from the main entrance to the main station so if you're after convenience it couldn't be better.
It is on the edge of the Old Town and St Georgi districts and in a very lively location (Hansa Platz close to the back of the hotel is a 24 hour open air meeting place so if you are a light sleeper could be a bit of a problem as you have to sleep with the windows open). We were a little concerned at first as while we were there there was scaffolding up the side of the building which passed by our window.
It has a quirky layout so, if like us you are at the back of the hotel the route (up a stairway, along a passage, down a short staircase through a lounge and either up in a lift or another stairway) took a little time to work out but wasn't a problem.

Great night in Hamburg...
BauldTorontoon 24/07/2017 19:52Booked one night on way to Copenhagen. Wanted to be near train station. Read the reviews and the good ones were bang on. Great location. Great service. Everyone we interacted with was personable, professional and helpful. Good tips for sites - told that we would be disappointed with the fish market but that we had to go... very accurate. Room was the tiniest I have ever stayed in that had its own bathroom... no room for two to manoeuvre, but fine for a night. Breakfast was great. Lots of choice and again, great service. All in all, highly recommended for one night... bigger room would be a must for a longer stay... Also, no A/C so a bit loud with the windows open, but not a deal breaker.

Lhr93on 12/07/2017 10:09Very nice stay. Rooms impeccably clean, staff friendly and helpful, really couldn't fault anything. We never got around to trying the breakfast so can't comment on that, however it seemed busy every morning.
