Pleasant Hotel
Mare1208on 26/03/2017 20:15Recommended by the locals to stay here during a business trip. Although it is a little out of the way, the surroundings were lovely. It is next to a lovely park and very green all around. For westerners, the room was clean, had appropriate bathroom accomodations and menu selections and water bottles that were safe to drink. Took advantage of the foot massage- one hour for only $24 USD which was terrific. The reasons I did not give this hotel a higher rating were as follows: 1) as compared to Shanghai, limited staff spoke any English, 2) wifi was spotty and 3) translations may not always appear as they seem. Ordered for lunch, the chicken in the pepper sauce. It was definitely not chicken and learned later that it was probably pigeon. Unless there is a better hotel, I would go back if doing business in Mianyang.
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere
travelclamon 12/04/2015 03:39We were recommended by a colleague, saying it was a nice hotel even though it's not really near town. The hotel is very nice and is next to a park which you can go for walks. During the mid March all the flowers in the park were starting to bloom so it was colorful and worth the promenade.
Pros: Spacious and bright hotel lobby with good seating, good size bedrooms, updated bathrooms, clean linens, comfortable bed, nice view outside the window to the hotel garden and pond, good service, especially the restaurant staff, peaceful setting,
Cons: a little out of the way from conveniences, the exterior staircase walking to the restaurant (this can be a bit chilly in colder months, which makes you having to put on your coat just to go have breakfast, and come back to the room)
Fantastic Peaceful Hotel
londonbelgianon 27/03/2015 18:08I loved this hotel and thought the facilties and location were fantastic! The hotel is set in a kind of reserve park area which is high up above Mianyang town, I stayed for two nights as part of a business trip.
The rooms are very large with a huge comfortable bed which together with the quietness of the area provides a great nights sleep. The hotel staff were not that friendly but did offer a good standard of service, the restaurant is located towards the rear of the hotel complex but provides a good buffet selection of Chinese and western style foods.
I took a walk early one morning before checking out which takes you higher into the hills and provides a good view of Mianyang. There is also a temple with lots of Chinese folk doing tai chi.
The WIFI was not very good but the LAN connection in the room was much faster.

DeLoonieson 11/03/2015 11:03This hotel was recommended by a business partner in Mianyang and it's not surprisingly also first in Tripadvisor for the city.
It's situated near the top of a mountain overlooking the city, quiet yet accessible.
Good rooms and service
aion_eon 06/08/2014 00:11I have stayed here several times in 2013 and 2014 for business with the meetings and work located on the hotel premises in conference rooms. Each time, the Chinese business partner have arranged the stay in advance, i.e. booked the rooms for me and my colleague (although we pay ourselves), the lunches and amenities during our meetings. The team of course know what we prefer when coming from western Europe, so everything has been excellent.
HOTEL: As the other reviews point out, this is a bit away from the city and more like a resort than a town hotel. It is a very green environment, quiet, peaceful and quite beautiful! During one of the visits there were a large group of military for another meeting, and these do smoke a lot so during the days they were there, we also got some smoke into our rooms since they smoked (although not allowed) in the hallways…. However, that was only during one out of several visits that the smoke was an issue, although I am sure our business partner also pointed out to the Hotel that we wanted smoke free environment.
Due to the visits being for business inevitably expensive electronics and other small or large equipment are brought, and so far there has never been any problems with these when left in the room (locked into the suitcase) when dining in town or going on a one day trip somewhere else. And looking at the way this hotel is run, it seems very safe in this respect for western business travelers.
ROOM : There are several levels of hotel rooms in this resort. Simple rooms that I have never seen, because I think they are intended for Chinese only, which is understandable especially for business meetings. For us there were mainly two types, the normal and the luxury rooms.
- The luxury room include a special tap in the bathroom for cleaned drinking water - impressive!! I used this A LOT for tea in the evenings and free access to clean drinking water is really appreciated. It also had a larger and more luxurious bathroom.
- Apart from that, all the rooms were pretty similar and had varying quality of the air con system, some really good, some less efficient and sometimes smelly. I was lucky with my rooms and only once the colleague got a bit smelly air con. I have always had an agreeable time here, and never been too cold or warm in my room. (in the business meeting rooms it can be freezing winter time, until the air con is up to speed)
- The clothing cupboard was always on the small side, so i kept most in the suitcase, for which there is a stand.
- the large glass windows out into nature are lovely and let in a lot of light.
- I have never, during any of my visits, experienced any power cuts in the room or in the business meeting facilities. So that might have been just bad luck for other travelers there. However, I have never been to this hotel in the summer when maybe there are more guests.
FOOD :
- The room service with food is OK and the portion was enormous of the traditional beef stew that I ordered.
- The lunch food arranged by our business partner at the hotel was superb! Absolutely fantastic! Over the year the hotel got to know the the team, so the last visit included all the things we like the most, which is very considerate. Also, more can be ordered along the way.
- there is a water boiler and tea/coffee amenities in the room - it all works fine
- the breakfast is mainly Chinese, with some sweet western food. So, it is perfect if you know what of the Chinese food you like. The only thing I missed was orange juice and black tea, but this was solved in my room instead. Try the soups and noodles!
SERVICE
- the massage service is good. Both full body and only foot massage was tested, and both were OK and a good end of a long working day. However, either you bring a dictionary, or a translator, because they speak no english there.
- the hotel accept credit cards, but not Diner's if I remember correctly.
- i was never there during summer time, so no tests of the pools etc
INTERNET : It is available, it works, but it is not great. Sometimes it works flawlessly, and then there are interrupts for an hour or so.
All-in-all this is a great place to stay and I have enjoyed it every time over the past 1.5 year. It is a bit away from town, but taxis are readily available and don't cost much. It is not particularly western oriented, so probably it's most suitable for those that have visited China before - but I honestly don't know since I've been there so much. I would definitively go here again as it is a safe bet, I'm used to it, it is well kept and for business it is excellent.
