Comfortable, homey, clean
Martha Yon 31/05/2017 17:14We were very comfortable in this sweet older inn right on the common in Chester. Lovely porch on the second floor directly off our room, overlooking the common. There's a nice big lobby with a fabulous stone fireplace, kept stoked in the winter. Continental breakfast was far better than most; I believe that much of the year they offer a full breakfast. There's some traffic on the main road across the common, so if you are bothered by moderate traffic noise it's probably best to get a room in the back, overlooking the garden.
Classic Vermont Inn with exceptional food & drink
LordChalfonton 06/02/2017 15:41Booked this mostly because of the overall value and proximity to Okemo for skiing. Upon our return from Okemo, my buddy & I stopped in the tavern for a drink. It turned into a flight of Vermont beers, wings, more beer, and then dinner, all next to a fireplace loaded with hot coals. With food and atmosphere like that, there was little motivation to try anywhere else. The room was comfy, clean and relatively small but fine for two guys with ski gear. Breakfast (continental "plus") did not disappoint with fresh fruit, waffles, scones, hot coffee, etc. We all agreed this place was a "find" and would be our go-to for Okemo trips from now on.
Wonderful Inn close to Okemo
Holly Zon 02/01/2017 00:31Last minute ski trip for New Years. The inn was beautifully decorated for the Holidays. Large, inviting main lobby with roaring fireplace, comfy couches and game tables made it a perfect spot for my family with two teenage boys to hang out in. The Tavern right on site was great for a casual dinner Friday night and then dessert and drinks on New Year's Eve - fireplace and football on the TV were a bonus. The staff including the innkeepers Bret and Nancy, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We booked two rooms and they were both impeccably clean and comfortable including the bathrooms which were modern. Only downside for some may be that they do not have TV's in the rooms but the Wifi is very strong and I was able to watch the news on my IPad. The furnishings in the rooms and in the inn were so charming and perfectly reflects classic Vermont charm. Breakfast was above and beyond what we expected - fresh fruit, assorted baked goods, cereals, variety of juices and Make your own waffles served in their quaint breakfast area was perfect and included in price of the room. And this Inn is only 20 minutes from Okemo. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it.
Nice area, great atmosphere.
abeaudry2016on 10/11/2016 17:54Small room was adequate for one night stay, the inn keeper was very nice if you engaged her in conversation, the breakfast make your own waffles was great, everything you need to start the day. The restaurant was nice place for soup when we
arrived, and great looking onion rings (which we did not have). Would go back again
the fireplace was not on but appeared to be very warming, it would be great for a snowy evening and you would not have to leave the area as there is everything you need.
During the warmer months the porch is nice for lunch, try it you will like it.
Enjoyable stay for Fall Festival
Cathleen Bon 19/09/2016 02:55Stayed overnight and had comfortable accommodation on 2nd floor. Spent time on rear deck in the afternoon during Fall Festival. The inn had a beer garden with brew, BBQ and rock n roll playing on sound system for the event. Had dinner in the restaurant including a Green Mt salad, tasty Buffalo wings, a very yummy lava cake dessert. Had a great breakfast in morning before checking out including a very fresh fruit salad, make your own waffles, and tasty cider donuts. All in all a great stay during a busy time for the innkeepers.
