What People are saying

3.5 out of 5

This was an in-between stop, so we only spent one night. It is trying to be a spa-type and they had a few amenities that made us feel that they were trying, but it wasn't what we were needing that night. Parking was tough as it's in the middle of the city, and breakfast was just OK. Also, don't plan on sleeping in past the church bells, and there will definitely be some traffic noise on the morning if you sleep with your windows open.
Shower was good, bed was middle of the road, and the room was in good condition. If you need to stay in this town, this is a good option... Just might not be the best one in town.

Very good Hotel near to all places of interest

Ron Eon 07/03/2017 13:13

The Hotel is very clean and the single rooms we had were large. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a 2 night with dinner offer and the 5 course dinner was excellent. The breakfast buffet was well filled with a nice selection of meats, cheese, fruit and breads. Parking was also available on the hotel grounds at an extra €10 per day.

Nice but edgy...

Vierdankon 15/10/2016 19:29

The hotel is on a bit of an "off street" in Eisenach, but near to everything within the city just the sam (Eisenach is a small town). The hotel has some class and style and you live more than comfortably with all amenities in the room - include very comfy beds.
However, the staff makes the impression go down. They are not rude, but not on the other hand nice. The "edgy" attitude on checking in, asking for concierge etc reminds me of the old east attitude.
Remarkable that this lives on today. Hotel business is a service business. A nice attitude and perhaps a smile can make a great difference in appearance and the guests loyalty to come back.
Sad, really...

Very good town center hotel

Ideal location just a few minutes walk to center, very clean and tidy rooms, very friendly staff, underground parking, the choice of breakfast was excellent. would like to revisit, lovely shops down town.

Pleasant hotel, ideal for visiting major attractions in Eisenach

Mike_Russbachon 10/03/2016 14:04

Well-located hotel, easy to find, and all major atractions are within an easy walk (Lutherhaus, Bachhaus etc) - the walk to the Wartburg is more taxing but not overly so - as is the station at c. 10-15 mins. The hotel is really a good 3-star reaching for the fourth. The reception was efficient and helpful, and everything we had booked was presented to us immediately and fuss-free (we had a special deal through a third party website). The room was fine for size, with a decent sized bathroom (although ours only had a large shower), big enough for 2 people to use at once. The room was classified as a "Komfort Zimmer", so the second grade up (20 sq.m., wider bed). The furnishings were a bit gloomy, dark oak and dark rattan furniture combination, and the soft furnishings were also dark. It felt like a room in a business hotel rather than a leisure hotel, although the majority of guests seemed to be holiday travellers like us. Although not overly noisy (we had a west facing room on a side street), there was a design flaw with the windows which meant that, even though they were double glazed, outside noises could be clearly heard (i found the catering deliveries outside our room at 6am every morning particularly disturbing). I would recommend a south or east facing room, with no views but less noise due to the absence of roads. On the bright side, the Wartburg can be seen from north and west facing rooms. The wifi worked OK and was free, but it was annoying having to keep logging in even when you hadn't left the hotel, and the "remember me" box in the login dialogue seemed to do nothing!

The staff that we encountered, mainly in the restaurant, were all pleasant and helpful. The three-course set menu offered in the restaurant (with choice of main course between meat/fish/vegetarian) was delicious and reasonably priced at 21 euros, and the drinks were not expensive. Breakfast was included for us, otherwise at 14 euros I'd say a little on the expensive side, but there was plenty of choice including hot food, and on our last day, pancakes.

We ate out on our third night and there are plenty of restaurants etc. within easy reach (try the Lutherstube at the Eisenacher Hof for a real experience, less than ten minutes walk away).

When we checked out, the hotel was happy to look after our luggage during the day, and we were pleased to note that it was in a secure location, it was labelled, and we were given numbered slips which needed to be produced on collection.

Please note that we've rated the hotel as if we'd paid the normal price, because we had a deal which was ultimately worth around 40% discount on the normal prices.

We'd be happy to return to this hotel, but doubt whether we'd visit Eisenach again as apart from the well-known sights, it doesn't have the appeal of Dresden and Leipzig. It's not a pretty town, despite the number of older buildings.
