Good and straight-forward budget hotel in expensive Switzerland
Studentguy12on 08/01/2017 14:21The owner of the hotel was really straight-forward and warm. The rooms were tidy and nice and the location in the alpine village of Scuol was wonderful. At check-in we received free tickets to take a gondola lift up the nearest mountain which was really nice. The room we had was quite small but enough for one night and we also managed to fit a child's bed there. The hotel has a restaurant which we only used for breakfast. The breakfast was quite basic and the staff seemed insufficient to keep the food plates filled but the owner was serving himself and he was really helpful.
I really recommend this hotel for your stay at Scuol.
Fine food and comfortable acommodation
Duncan Aon 06/10/2013 10:12From the moment we arrived at the Hotel Gabriel, we found the staff courteous, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent, with a fine assortment of local Engadine cuisine as well as more typically "Swiss" dishes. The breakfast is substantial and varied, with delicious home-made jams and fine, fresh bread and cold meats and cheeses. Hot breakfasts are also available to order. The situation is idyllic, near the centre of the old village of Scuol, with its many mineral springs, summer white-water rafting and hiking and winter skiing. It is also near the famous wellness centre which has been on the go in one form or another since 1369 or something. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean. What more could a visitor want?
Homely stay in an alpine village
ChongCYon 24/06/2013 15:01Excellent service- at dinner when we asked for chilli sauce, the owner went the extra mile and walked to his own house to bring over not just thai chilli sauce but also sambal oelek. AL Fresco dining available for lunch and dinner. Rooms are bigger than in the towns and we had a room with a sloping roof.
Quiet, comfortable, lots of good food
Sharonbaderon 15/09/2012 09:20This hotel was recommended by the info people at the train station. It's down the hill so a bit further to walk, but quiet and quaint. Kathy, the owner was always there asking how we were and if we needed anything. Yes the church bells could be heard but this seems normal in Switzerland. We ate twice in the restaurant for dinner and had LOTS of hearty food.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and restaurant.
Good Value
swandavon 10/08/2010 08:03I wanted a hotel in the old part of Scuol, and this hotel was perfect for that. It is quiet, but the church bells ring nearby all through the night. The value is great. However, I was disturbed to realize, about one minute after it happened, that the hotel had charged my stay in US dollars without aking if that's how I wanted to pay.
Internet acces only costs 5 chf for the duration of your stay.
