Great Restaurant, Great Hotel, Wonderful Location

A five hundred year old hotel and restaurant on the old road over a mountain pass across the street from a train station. It was wonderful for a night on our summer trip, and now I want to visit in the winter.

Our family had an amazing time here over 2016 Christmas holidays. Xavier and Elizabeth, the husband and wife team are great hosts. The other members of the restaurant team were fabulous as well. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable and bathroom sparkling clean. This was the best Christmas away from home that we ever had. After a long day visit to several of the towns in the region, we enjoyed coming back to the hotel to peace and tranquility and a good meal. We ate all our dinners there including a special Christmas Day dinner. We were a very diverse large group of adults, young adults,a teenager, and children, yet everybody loved the place, staff and the food.
Breakfast selection is incredible, even the picky children ate their breakfast with joy and no complaints. With passes in hand getting around Engadin region was a breeze using both the local Rhaetian Railway's red train and the bus. We were there for five days and each day we explored a new destination but always ended up in Pontresina town center then back to Bernina Suot and to the hotel. Cross country skiing at Pontresina was easily accessible by train or bus. We did Saint Moritz, Celerina, hiking at Silvaplana, Zuoz and a whole bunch of other sightseeing. We visited Alp Grum, Diavolezza using the train. We got to walk on several frozen lakes, at Sant Moritz there were benches on the frozen lake and people were relaxing on the benches. Well some of us not so brave ones just stood not far from the edge of the frozen lake.
We bought transportation passes at the visitors center in Pontresina which is so easy to find and people there were very helpful. They even gave us free souvenirs.
the young people did not want to leave. In the evenings they enjoyed the family /game room downstairs.
We all want to go back soon, this time during warmer weather, so we can experience the place in a different way.
I am so glad we found this great accommodation in such a nice place. It was easy for us to get there by train from Tirano. The stop is Bernina Suot. We also found it easy to take the train from there and change at Pontresina and Sant Moritz to Chur. From Chur we took a fast train to Zurich. By the end of our Engadin region visit we had done the Bernina Express route Tirano to Chur. We had experienced the Brusio Circular Viaduct, Landwasser Viaduct and more inbetween. This train journey is so amazing and beautiful.
We had a good experience at this hotel and recommend it. Thanks Xavier, Elizabeth and all your team members.

Beautiful Inside and Out

Stayed here for one night whilst hopping on and off the Bernina railway line. It was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our week long trip! The location is just stunning, the room was beautiful and the staff very friendly. They have an extensive dinner menu - which was slightly pricey but delicious! Breakfast was great with the usual breads / cereals / boiled or scrambled eggs etc... If staying here- would recommend hopping back on the train to Alp Grum for a wee hot chocolate looking over the mountains.

Wonderful FOOD & Perfect SERVICE

Had a wonderful dinner with local food at this place. The boss is the Chef too and his wife is running the service crew. We had Pizzoccheri and game from the region. It has been a wonderful evening. The wine list is very large and the choice of regional wines is impressive.
We will be back as soon as possible. Thank you!

Beautiful location and good food

We stopped here whilst walking on the Bernina Pass. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat on the terrace enjoying the views but the restaurant with it's wood panelled style is also lovely. We had roesti and salad - both were very good. The service was good. The hote also looked very nice and I would consider coming back!
