What People are saying

Good restaurant

Haimaron 22/01/2017 16:38

Quite close to ski station, we had lunch a bit late for german timetable, 14.00
We had 2 wienersnitchel ( 2 pieces on ecery plate) pommes and one kindet snitchel with 2 beers (0,5l) and water (tap, thoughvthey chargue for it) and paid 40 €, tip included. Service was quick. Place is typical alpen house, wooden furniture, coozy.

Great place to stay

Stayed for 2 nights in July, ate at the restaurant both nights, excellent food and drink and at reasonable prices. Menus were available in English.
Room was clean, WiFi worked without issue.
Friendly host speaks fluent English.
Would stay again.

A gem of a find

We stayed there for 1 night in July on the way to Italy. It is a charming hotel with very, very friendly staff. Conversations were fun and we had no problem either being understood or understanding our hosts. The food was exceptionally good and the dishes we tried had a nice Bavarian twist to them. The restaurant gets quite busy so it's a good idea either to turn up early or to reserve. The prices are very goo too. The breakfast was absolutely first class and there is a machine that has a constant temperature of water in which you can lower an egg, you then take a timer to your table and set it to the required cooking time. Every area of the hotel is spotless and our family room even had a four-poster bed. We have no hesitation in rating the hotel as excellent and in recommending it to fellow travellers.

Learn German

The menus offered to us were in German only, although it was clear that my husband does not speak the language. Both elderly ladies who served us knew no English, although two younger ones did.

We arrived in the afternoon, and most snacks mentioned in the menu (mostly sausages) were unavailable ("finished"). The soup was too salty.

In the evening the restaurant was busy. The elderly lady poured some wine out of my glass, rather carelessly. When I placed a coaster under a decanter to spare her tablecloth, she told me that I shouldn't do so, because they are for beer glasses only. She made no comments to the Germans next table who did the same.

My partner wanted an ice cream for dessert. He was told that the kitchen is closed and the ice cream has finished.

I imagine that the same food and wine, even without dessert, would make for a pleasant evening, if served by a different person.

The breakfast was equally unwelcoming. The only young waitress available struggled to cope with numerous guests. There were no clean tables to sit, when we entered the room. You have to boil your eggs yourself, preferably keeping a constant eye on them (mine were taken by fellow-guests). Only two pre-boiled eggs and no vegetables remained. I asked for some vegetables, but they never arrived.

On the whole, I would have rated the place as very good, if not the attitude of the personnel.

Lovely place

I stayed here for 1 night whilst cycling, there was somewhere safe for my bike. The Gasthof is lovely, the rooms are really nicely furnished. I had a single room and it was very adequate, with a big bathroom, and a comfy bed.
The restaurant is very busy and serves good traditional food all freshly cooked. Indoor and outdoor seating. The hotel is in a good location, right by the Honheck lift.
The whole place is spotless and whilst there are a lot of rooms it doesn't feel like a big place. The village has some interesting shops selling traditional things.
Wifi works well
