Pistol6947on 18/04/2012 06:20This place is dirty and nothing works, have had trouble with the Internet all week. The fridge does not work. Stay at the Rainbird hotel which is close by.
What an absolute hole!
michael ton 10/09/2011 11:30Stayed at Gelin Pulante last year for our "big trip" to China. Stayed in one of their top floor suites. First thing we found was the fridge didnt work. We reported this to the front desk who promptly sent mantenence up-who attempted to remove the computor! First night we found that the air con which is directly above the main bed leaked- onto the bed! At least we thought our daughter would be more comfortable sleeping downstairs in the suite lounge but no! Day 2 maintenence came to the room while we were out and removed the extra bed we had ordered for her. Apparently it was needed elsewhere! As a consequence of not being able to use the air con my wifes night dress left a dye stain due to her profuse sweating during Chengdu summer so they charged us for a new sheet(a charge they added later).8 days of hell-Never ever stay at this dump!
Newish Hotel on Restaurant Street
BB_in_BJon 07/10/2010 15:28I've stayed at over a dozen different hotels in Chengdu and chose this one because of the funky name (no idea what it means) and the price was reasonable for a 4-star (self-billed of course). And also, the address is very attractive. Yipin Tianxia is a famous restaurant street, and there is a wide variety of big names and smaller places to choose from here. The hotel is only a couple of minutes' walk away down the strip to the pedestrian section with all the restaurants. The hotel and room themselves were nothing phenomenal. It was fairly new, room bit small but not cramped. Hotel is set back from the street so there it is relatively quiet. Check-in lobby is on the second floor and you have to take a small elevator up. Staff was pleasant but nobody spoke much English. This hotel probably caters to a local crowd anyway, as we didn't see any other foreigners there. While there isn't much right outside the hotel, there is a branch of the well-known Renren Le supermarket directly across the street. Anyway, as mentioned, the very active eatery village is only a short walk away. Though there's nothing spectacular about it, this is a decent hotel in a fairly good location
