Fabulous stay in a beautiful Ryokan!

We loved every part of our stay at Genmyoan!! Highly recommended!

We were greeted at the local train station by lovely staff who drove us to the Ryokan. To get there, you drive up a picturesque winding road to the top where you arrive at Genmyoan. The staff is super friendly and they greet you with a welcome tea and pastry in their main room that overlooks Amanohashidate. This view is spectacular!

We then went to explore the beautiful town below.

Upon our arrival back at Genmyoan we had a wonderful dinner in our room. The breakfast the next morning was delicious as well!

If you are traveling in the area, definitely stay at Genmyoan! It is a little hidden treasure and a nice break from the bigger cities in Japan.

Slightly winding drive up the hill. Beautiful lobby seating area. Enjoying a cup of tea with dessert while enjoying the great view. Super friendly and helpful staff. We had a large group (7 adults).
The lady who looked after us was so affable and kind. She explained things slowly and gave me time to translate for my in laws and relatives. I don't think I ever heard a negative word or attitude from her or other staff even though we were confused at times. She arranged for dinner in one of our rooms and let us know about the history of the place. The Imperial family has visited and stayed here at one point of time. There were only a few rooms but it has now been sized down for more people to come and enjoy. Historical place.
They took special care for our food and allergies right from the moment we stepped in. Cakes with beans were not served to those with G6PD issues. Those who had trouble eating had softer tea snacks. Superb service and care.
There was a certain timing where sake would be served. We didn't drink it but the area was lovely.
Dinner was great. So many courses with beautifully crafted food. As it was winter, we had Matsuba crab in various styles. Even as congee at the end of the meal. We were shocked to see the huge bowl she presented to us happily.
Onsen is a little old school and small but comfortable
Wake up earlier to see the sunrise and great view. Felt sad to check out and leave a beautiful place behind.
Overall we had a great stay. Wish there were more reviews to attract customers to this beautiful place.

Wonderful place and superb foid and service

If you wish to rest as never you rested, choose this Ryokan. Mrs Ishima is a wonderful person to welcome you. Great onsen inside the hotel with a superb virw over amanohashidate. Great meal, superb rooms, everything perfect. Moreover, take time to visit the fishing village of Ine. Great! Our best experience through our trip of 20 days in Japan.

It was great to arrive at the Ryokan, welcomed with a very great service.
The room that we reserved, was facing Amano Hashidate, with a bathroom with also a top view. The diner served in the room was very good. The Onsen was also a great time, even if I thought that the bath area will be bigger. The day after we could see the sunrise fro the room and had a nice typical japanese breackfast.

Everyone was so amazingly nice at this ryokan. The view was breathtaking and the area was a very nice change from the hustle of Kyoto and Tokyo. Our maid was great: friendly, polite and punctual. Well worth the cost.
