Depressing place

Staff almost non-existent. Only ever one on duty.
Breakfast totally overpriced at 12 Euro , and totally unexciting. Nothing like French cuisine. Restaurant and bar closed.
Travel back in time
Scotsman_Parison 18/08/2015 08:38The last time I stayed in a hotel like this was 20 years ago... This property is stuck in another era in terms of quality of furnishings (awful beds, furniture straight out of a retirement home catalogue, etc.) ; the decoration is old and weathered ; the bathrooms poor (stand alone shower unit in fiberglass like you find in ferry cabins) ; the corridors dark and the stair carpet dirty and worn. It has a great location and a car parking area (a real plus point in this crowded town) and some rooms must have a good view (ours did not) but no-one seems to care about the state of the property and I am not even sure that they care about their guests (but that may be a language and culture thing...). With major investment, this could be made into a really nice property but, until then, I would not recommend it and it certainly is not good value for money because the price is based on what the location warrants, not on the quality of the property.
Shabby without being chic..
LesleydeCon 09/06/2015 13:08On arrival we were met by four people standing behind the reception desk staring at us as if we had walked in on something - not the best of welcomes! Then one of the men said that as we had the dogs with us (booked months ahead incidentally) we would need to upgrade to one of the 'best' rooms at a charge of euro17, which he then dropped to euro10. The room was basic and dated and in desperate need of upgrading, tape in the corner of the bathroom ceiling? and a shower that was both dated and inefficient, very shabby altogether, the balcony had not been swept and the car park covered in weeds. After insisting we pay the extra euro 10 for the 'best' room which we did not ask for, we were also asked to pay for the dogs which I
refused to do. In its favour, the location is lovely, free onsite parking and just minutes from the bay, the bed was clean and comfortable and the breakfast ok, only spoilt by the threadbare carpeting on the restaurant floor which had not been hoovered for sometime. Altogether very disappointing and not somewhere we would stay again.
Great traditional french hotel
patricia20on 29/07/2012 23:41This is a very friendly hotel , in a great position a short stroll away from the beach . The crepes with home made buerre sale at breakfast were delicious . We definitely hope to return . St Quay Portrieux has a beautiful beach , and a lovely swimming pool ( free ) when the tide is put .
