Great but noisy
Emsie00003on 10/05/2017 12:22Stayed here for three nights at the beginning of may in room 5 with the private bathroom.
The good: Before we arrived the hotel staff emailed us to ask when we were arriving to ensure they were there when we arrived which was a nice touch On arrival staff were really friendly and happy to help. The room was fairly clean and basic but that's all we wanted. The wifi was really reliable as well which was good and there was a fan in the room which was good for the hotter days! The location was fantastic for the price we paid, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit.
The bad: The noise! I know this is something the hotel probably cannot help but this really did affect my visit. Our room was right beside reception and the walls were very thin so we could hear everything in the hall way. One night a couple arrived who had not read the email previously sent to them by the hotel that the reception is only open until 10pm and to email them an arrival time so were having to hang around outside our room for hours (AND TRIED TO GET IN TO OUR ROOM!) However, I am aware this is not the hotels fault but if you are a light sleeper I would advise bringing ear plugs if in this room. There was also some building work outside (i presume, it was banging noises) which started at 5am on one of the days. Again, not to do with the hotel but did affect my sleep.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay however if you are a light sleeper I would advise bringing earplugs to prevent the noise.
Lovely place
Jo Gon 26/10/2016 13:31Stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The room was a good size, very clean with private bathroom and a fridge. We stayed 6 nights and the room was cleaned each day. Lovely very helpful family who gave us lots of local knowledge and discount of local restaurants. Great tips on how to find our way around the attractions. 10 min from main metro and everything within walking distance.
Cheap and Cheerful
Amy Don 12/10/2016 16:58We stayed here from the 1st to 6th September. The reception is on the second floor and our room was on the fourth floor. Luckily there was a lift, however it was tiny and old fashioned and would not be ideal for anyone who is claustrophobic. On arrival we were asked to pay Rome City Tax, which we were not aware of before we arrived, so it's important to put some money aside before you arrive in order to cover this cost so you are not left short of funds. We were also given maps of the city before being shown to our room. The room was large with a double and single bed, a wardrobe, fridge and tv. Our bathroom was separate and at the other end of the corridor, however we did not have to share this with anyone so it wasn't a huge problem. Just around the corner from the B&B is a little wine bar which we visited quite a few times. It was nice to sit on the outside with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. In terms of location, this B&B was ideal. Ten minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps. It was only a five minute walk to the nearest metro station (which is how we travelled to get to the Vatican City). The room was basic, but it was clean and all that we really needed during out stay. The only downside was that as it was a guest house, there wasn't a lounge/bar or garden area to sit in, which the larger, more expensive hotels obviously have. If you are looking for something cheap, clean and in a good location, I would recommend this B&B. The hotel offer private airport pick up and drop off too, which can be arranged before you fly to Rome.
Basic but very neat and clean B&B accommodation
Me7roiDon 10/10/2016 08:38Giuseppe, the owner of the property, is a delightful person who's always ready to help - as is his whole family. What's more, he whips up the best cappuccino in Rome - and I'm not even exaggerating. We found the size & furnishings of our bedroom pretty ample - and the room was kept clean and neat at all times, as were all common areas. The location is also very convenient - not amidst the tourist masses, but within walking distance from pretty much any landmark.
On the minus side, the bathrooms could definitely use an overhaul with hot water being just as elusive as the wi-fi signal. Also, the walls are pretty thin - which I guess is common for acommodation of this kind.
Nice place and location
tallahwallahon 30/09/2016 18:13Gialel B&B is not the newest and/or most up to date place to stay but it was comfortable and located in a great location. The staff, and father and daughter duo, were extremely helpful and really nice. They arranged our transportation to and from the airport and helped us with questions about transportation and tours. My only issue was in the private bathroom that we reserved. Whenever we ran the water the toilet, sink, or shower, it seemed to cough at us... it made this really loud sound whenever the water was being used and scared the life out of me when I first heard it while using the toilet. Oh, and the refrigerator did not work. All-in-all, I would recommend Gialel B&B.
