In the very centreisvthe
Bagagaon 25/07/2017 16:12It is on very centre, among shops,restaurants and bars. A stone away from the Cathedral.In front of the city is the electric tower from where you can take city's view. There is also sightseeing tours, hop off, hop on. By the side of the hotel there is a square, plaice d'Armes, where I found bands and singers. Staff friendly, especially the Romanian, Allain.

The elevator sounds like an injured old train going uphill it's last ride, no conditioners and overall rooms are uncomfortable and very sad looking. Indeed, the location is great! Keep in mind that there is no hotel parking
A Grand Hotel that needs a little tlc
wolvesgalon 17/07/2017 19:59This hotel is in an excellent location. A few minutes walk from PlaceD'Armes and really convenient for the restaurants and attractions in Luxembourg City.
The room was on the fourth floor and this is apparently the executive level. The rooms were about €170 a night.
The room was spacious with a large bathroom and excellent power shower. This shower was over the bath, which was a little high for me as I'm only short. Shower gel and other toiletries were complimentary.
The bathroom also contained a hairdryer which is always handy if you have long hair,like me.
The bedroom had a small TV-we didn't even turn it on, haven't come away to watch TV! It also had a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and lovely old furniture.
The bed was (not that big) but very soft and comfortable.
Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were really friendly-especially the check in staff who looked after our bags after we checked out.
The room opened out into a balcony which was great to people watch and also to watch the amazing storm whilst we were there.
Breakfast was a sedate affair in a lovely room and this is what makes the Hotel Cravat special. Each room is unique and a work of art in itself. I loved the bar. Even the doorvyo the lift was ornate (the staff lift even more so!)
Back to the breakfast, plenty of fruit, juice, yogurt and toast for me.
Only a few things could be improved on-there is air conditioning but it's not 'connected yet' that's vital. We were given a fan but the proximity of the busy road to the hotel means it wasn't viable to keep the windows open. It was sweltering hot.
With the windows and doors shut there was negligible outside noise. The outside shutters meant that the room was kept dark leading to a good nights sleep.
The wifi was very patchy-when this was mentioned to the owner-bearing in mind this was an executive room-I was just told to pay extra for the wifi. I thought that unacceptable, particularly given the existing wifi wasn't even staying connected.
The doors could do with soft closers on them. People came in at all times of the night, slamming doors.
Far more pluses than minuses, would happily stop here again-particularly when the air con is up and working!

johnmunro402on 07/07/2017 13:33Great hotel in a perfect location with lovely views. We were over to watch Rangers play and that was the only disappointment on the trip. Really friendliest staff. Very helpful. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.
Old but some way a charming hotel

I am sure this has been really top of the class Grand Hotel, in the past.. The hotel is old, everything is old and you can really see the past decades. But for some reason not in a bad way - everything is from same era, they have not even tried to update the hotel so there is no new and old awkwardly mixed, which makes it some way charming and funny. And it is clean and well maintained.
Service is good. Room was not a huge one, but they have the turndown service which was quite unexpected - again another mark from glorious past times :) .. There was no air conditioning, and the bed was quite terrible - as only negative matters. Breakfast was good and coffee served to the tables. Location of the hotel is great, everything close and nice restaurants just few blocks away.
I would maybe not stay here for a week, but it was nice and different experience :)
