Expensive experience in neglected village
lambertus0on 31/07/2017 10:49Good service with friendly reception. Well kept small bedroom for a high price. (€240 per night!) Excellent restaurant with unimaginative dishes but perfectly executed. Not very creative. Huge choice of wines. Price quality relation is out of proportion; everything is charged even the parking on the property. One simple beer is charged at €8,-! Hotel is situated in one of the main streets with lively shops. This is an exeption because the rest of the village is run down with many shops and bars closed an out of business. This give everything a sas atmospjere. Historic church was closed because of recent burglaries.
Fantastic weekend, location?
Victoria Won 21/06/2017 21:06We stayed for a night here and had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The silver service dinner outside in the courtyard was exceptionally good, a real treat. Breakfast was very generous and delicious. Room slightly small but fine for a couple, not quite as luxurious as might expect for a relais and châteaux but ok. corridor deco felt a bit dated. The location was a bit of a disappointment on a high street in fairly sprung down town. Although very handy for chateaux, tickets for which were included in weekend deal.
Pleasant stay in the Loire Valley
115ezrakon 01/06/2017 13:54Le Grand Hotel du Lion D'Or is a charming hotel in a quaint town in central France. The staff was attentive and kind and the restaurant provided a delicious culinary experience. My only complaint, and this is quite minor, is that the wifi was very slow making it almost unusable. Otherwise this was a lovely hotel and if you are in the area you should definitely consider it.

We were upgraded to an even better room, facing a cute courtyard. Very calm, no bad surprise at all.
Highly recommended.
Luxury in a small French town
Robert Ron 16/02/2017 15:45This hotel was absolutely beautiful with delightful bespoke rooms, a stunning courtyard and fantastic services. Their restaurant is expensive but the food and service magnificent. If we were ever in the area again we would definitely chose to stay.
