What People are saying

Wonderful service, huge room, accommodated.

I was skeptical about this place when I first read about it, but I gave it a shot and I LOVED IT. Nolen is the manager, and he welcomed us, talked to us to get to know us, did a great job even though he is working way more than he should and he changed our rooms when then a/c didn't work. The other staff were kind as well. The inside is very clean, the rooms were spacious, clean, had good A/c, and provided all necessities. The fridge actually was so cold it froze my drinks! That's a first for me. The pool and jacuzzi were wonderful. Breakfast was good. The elevator was the only bad part about this hotel because it made creepy noises. The hotel staff accommodates everything you need and I will definitely be coming back.

DON'T STAY HERE!!!

"What a dump" doesn't begin to describe this horrible hotel. Now I understand why there were no reviews when I booked it. They have changed the name to Portland Suites Airport East in an attempt to keep potential guests from reading the truth about it.

So I booked it under its new name thinking that it is near the airport. No, it's 10 miles away. It has no airport shuttle so it's necessary to take a taxi or use a private transportation service i.e. Uber. Three taxis refused to take me to the hotel because they all told me that it didn't exist (even though I showed it to them on my phone). One even said that the address didn’t make sense. The property states that it's on 183rd, it's actually at the corner of 181st and Hawley.

Okay, I was stuck at PDX at nearly midnight so I sat down and opened an account with Uber. It was kinda scary because I had heard about some negative experiences. But it turned out to be great!
My driver was an interesting young man who patiently used GPS to locate the non-existent hotel and delivered me to the front door.

I almost wished he hadn't. The minute I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by a disgusting odor. The woman at the desk explained that the smell was coming from the laundry. Really...

The room was large, but the furniture was shabby, as were the walls. The bed linens appeared to be clean, but smelled like men's hair creme. There were ants in the bathroom. The shampoo and conditioner were from other hotels, i.e. the La Quinta and the Comfort Inn. In fact, the little container of conditioner was only half full. The bath towels are so skimpy that I had to use two to dry off after my shower (and I am not a big person). There was hair from previous guests in the tub and on the sink. The coffee maker in the room turned on but didn’t make coffee. I tried to make a waffle for breakfast but that was a joke. It just tore into little pieces. I think that the batter had been diluted.

When I checked out, I told the guy at the desk about my experience with the taxis the night before thinking that the hotel may want to put out the word about the name change. His response was that the fault lay with the taxi drivers because there is a BIG sign with the new name on it. He was in no way empathetic with me and the difficulty I had experienced.

BTW, I found out that a taxi would have cost approximately $40; Uber was a little less than $20.

Enough said.

UGH!

No one seemed to care about anything here. The ice maker did not work; I was told that someone should put a sign on it. I guess repairing it was not an option. The bathroom ceiling in my room showed obvious signs of patching. I could not print my boarding pass because there is no printer in the so called business center. There is no closet in the room, just a bar with hangars. I'll never stay here again. Also, there was a sign on the front desk referring guests to a web site if there were complaints.

Very disappointed

Nothing worked including laundry, soda and ice machines. Snack machines jammed. Promised a crib i didnt get until halfway threw my visit. Had ants in my room, bathroom and window. Got no survice. I vacuumed my own room and replaced my towels and garbage. Crazy people day and night. I wouldnt consider this kid friendly let alone a place to waste to spend your weekend. I then found a broken meth or crack pipe brought it to front desk so no one got cut or hurt. Nothing but rude people. When i asked or showed what i found i didnt get a thank you for the stay, Have a nice day or an apology. I spend over $700 to stay in an un welcomed place with my young kids and man. VERY VERY DISPLEASED!!!

Disgusting!!

I will preface this review with; I don't write bad reviews and usually I read reviews before booking but we were in a hurry and needed something near Mt Hood College. This is actually not a Guesthouse Inn and Suites. They likely lost the franchise from all the bad reviews. I have stayed in all levels of hotels and I can handle "dated" but dirty and unsafe is completely unacceptable. We booked two rooms last week, one for my husband and I and one for our sons. We paid online through a booking agency and it was nonrefundable or we would have left the minute we entered the parking lot of the sketchy neighborhood. There is laundry lint all over the sidewalk from the vents as well as hundreds of cigarette butts in the flower beds. There was an overwhelming bad smell in the lobby. The desk clerk tried to charge us three times the rate until we convinced her that we had paid online. We asked for a non-smoking room, that was not the case. The bedspread had cigarette burns and stains on it and the bed skirt was ripped. There was a bullet hole in the window (we were on the top floor so clearly it wan't an accidental rock). The furniture was all scratched and worn out.The towels were mismatched and crusty. The floor had never been vacuumed, let alone deep cleaned. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion had been used and were a mix of different brands from other hotels. Both ice makers are broken. Possibly the biggest concern is that the smoke detector in our room was covered with a plastic bag and the battery was non-existent in our sons room. The sprinklers for fire safety have been painted so I can hardly imagine that they work. After reading the reviews, there was no way we were going to chance the "free" breakfast. The health department needs to pay a visit. The pictures are a far cry from the reality.
