What People are saying

Do not stay, I repeat do not stay at this hotel!! November 2013

Annemarieke1975on 28/11/2013 12:14

today we arrived at the hotel and there were builders working on the hotel, the lobby, the first floor, everything was completely a big mess en very fuilthy!! the toilets and the rooms were so dirty that it was just not safe to stay here so we left directly. the reception spoke no english and could not arrange a taxi so we had to wait for a long time to find a taxi on the street carrying our suitcases to go somewhere else. I believe that when the builders are finished most probably the hotel will be okay but for now STAY AWAY FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS!!!

Interesting Hotel

This hotel is well located for access to the main walking area for restaurants etc in the evening. It gives the impression of being full of old anitques and as a result is very interesting for people who have not spent a lot of time in China. However, for a couple of nights it is a very good value. The breakfast buffet leaves a lot to be desired. Pre-arranged airport pick-up did not happen for our group of 6 and we had to use the airport tourist office to get to town. As it turned out, this was a better arrrangement as we were able to book the river cruise and other things all at the same time as well as the return trip to the airport.
Overall, not too bad for a short stay.

No way I will be back!!!

Yukky, unless you want to stay in a museum! Just mentioning it gives me the creeps! Most things look and smell OLD!!! The corridors are dim, and there were construction works going on. Not my kind of hotel.

The worst hotel in the world...don't stay at this hotel!

Travelled to guilin on July 2011 with family. Nightmare started the moment we stepped in this hotel. This hotel definitely deserved the title as the worst hotel in the world.
Hotel service is terrible! Hotel management (NOT their ground staffs) don't know what's customer service. We have some payment argument with them so we asked to talk to their higher management as we understand in China the lower ground staffs don't handle difficult customer issues/problem well..well, their management created more disaster to us. After they found out it's them that have made the mistake, they didn't apologize to us (we don't even expect any compensation from them)!

The aircon is not strong at all. And I feel bad as old parents even have to lie down on the floor to get themselves cool off (another disaster to us). the power supply is not stable in our room. The power was cut off and then recovered within a few second. This repeated for more than 10 times on one of the early morning (around 5am plus). It completely disrupted our sleep. Since we already paid for two nights, so we didn't change hotel the second day. But 2nd night was another nightmare to us. A group of inconsiderate Chinese tourists have checked in that day and they talked so loud in the midnight (Around 2am plus) when they back to hotel. As the room floor is made of wood, you can imagine how bad the noise is when they walked around their rooms as we can hear it clearly from our room. If you want to get good sleep qualitfy, this is the hotel you shall avoid to stay.

Room is too dark and it smell bad. TV size is too small and the picture/color quality is bad.
Bathroom size is ok, however, the area for you to take shower is too small. I am considered small size, and yet the space within the shower area is so small that i can hardly turn. Basically, after taking shower, the whole bathroom is considered wet as they don't have the proper shower glass door.

The hotel doesn't deserve #27 out of 200 plus hotel (As of july 2011) in guilin..it should definitely be at the bottom. Avoid this hotel at all costs if you want to have a plesant trip.

I agree with some reviews, it's not bad, but it's a strange hotel.."

We stayed in this hotel with our tour group. Whilst we could see that the hotel is relatively new, but the interior of the hotel made us wondering what would the designer/owner thinking?? First, the lobby was huge and filled with antique furnitures, paintings, windows panes, even a replica of emperor's throne. It's okay, but just too many things stuffed in the lobby, we felt like we entered a museum or home of the antiques collector. Secondly, the lobby was one floor upstairs and there was escalator going up. It was just didn't look right, an escalator among the antiques, old pillars, old panels, and marbles floor... LOL.

As if we didn't have enough surprise, the room chosen for us was nothing less weird. It has furnished wooden floor, but no cabinet to store our clothes. Only a long hanger where there were bath robes hanging there. The room itself was quite dark with only small window (antique one, with wooden panes, and thin curtain), so it was kind of creepy to see the bath robes hanging without thinking that it would eventually move while we were sleeping.. LOL..

But anyway, the room was clean, bathroom was spacious and bright (thanks God!, it's even brighter than the bedroom.. LOL). Too bad, the hotel did not provide free bottled water nor the kettle to boil water. It only provided a warm water in a thermos, that we had to call the house keeping to fill in more when we were finishing it.

Breakfast was disaster, but maybe because we had to leave very early in the morning. The hotel also said to have sauna and pool. Haven't got a chance to check these.

The location was near a city garden and lake with two pagodas in the middle of the lake (just forgot the name of the garden/lake) and behind the hotel there were rows of shops and resto. So maybe in term of location, this hotel was not that bad.
