This is not like simple hotel.. It is tent house in the river bank below the foothills. Tents are neatly done. It gives such a peaceful atmosphere and picturesque views. Food was also good.reasonble charge for the room and food was included in it. Those who wish for solitude and away from hustles of city.... Perfect location. Would definitely like to visit once again

Wonderful place to stay

A thrilling experience to stay in the tent surrounded by Snow clad mountains. Very very Nice view. There is a small stream running before the tent and it is so good. If i am not wrong this is located in the valley called Strawberry valley. This is well away from the busy crowded central area. We stayed here last year May (2016)

Extraordinarily beautiful place... Great Food

This place is truly extraordinary - and will give you an experience that is far different from a hotel. (similar to what others have written)

They have heated beds + 1 heater per tent...and heated water that comes for a few hours in the morning + evening. Highlight of the stay was the phenomenal food that these folks make. Have attached some pics of the attenders who live there through the year.

Will strongly recommend staying here!

Oversmart security guard but Good location

Gulmarg meadows is calm and serene, away from the main market area. You can certainly camp here with your kids. But the bathrooms are not so clean and hot water is only for limited number of hours. Food was very average. Our experience was ok till the time we were checking out and the security guard/manager (Mr Dilbar) started acting smart and asked for a big amount for a not so lavish dinner. And while doing these calculations, he also tried confusing us to get some extra money.

Camping with family can't be better then this!

This property enables the guests to experience camping in one of the most beautiful and scenic location in the world with almost no hassle and troubles of traditional camping. You would wake up with the music of bird chirping and a water stream next to your camping site while the snow caped mountains would be glowing with orange-red-ish sun rays beyond the dew covered green meadows and thick forest of pine trees. It all appears like a mesmerizing painting and you would really not wish to go anywhere else to explore the nature and soothing calmness. With all of this your own piece of natural fortune, you will still get all the basic facilities that we crave (and feel that can't live without) in the modern world like Hot water (limited supply), WC and usual toiletries, blanket warmer, room heater, carpeted floor etc. But please one should not forget that these are still tents and basically is a camping site so you would still feel colder than a typical hotel room. But totally recommended to do this experience - specially in summer to autumn.
About food and service: Food was prepared fresh for each meal considering it can host only handful of guests each day and its quite isolated from the hustle and bustle of town. It was tastefully cooked and can't complaint about the quality. We found it tasty enough and more than the taste, it was the hospitality of the care-takers who really took care of us at personal level and were on their toes to serve us the best. They were humble and went extra miles to treat my daughter as princess.
I would strongly recommend this place if you love to spend your time observe beauty of nature and not so finicky about the usual in-room facilities , you should consider staying at least 2 or 3 nights at this location. You can choose to walk around at your leisure or can go for few known treks trails from here - of course, Gulmarg Gondola and mountain peaks are always there waiting for you.
A big thank you to Gulmarg Meadows staff who made our stay memorable in many ways.. will surely revisit again!
