Just perfect for us
Steve Non 18/05/2017 22:58On a map, the hotel appears to be quite a ways from the old port...but it's not. Just a short 10 minute walk, past lovely boutiques and shop--all local--no chains! We opted for a small suite (great price) in the original ivy-covered building, as opposed to a room in the newer tower. It was perfect for us. Plus, this hotel has incredible common spaces, including a nice outdoor patio around the pool, with plenty of seating (for May that is). The staff was positively perfect, and helped in any way we needed--renting a car, restaurant recommendations, etc. The only downside: only instant coffee in the rooms. For the real stuff, you have to visit their restaurant. We passed on breakfast, as 18 Euro p/p was out of line, especially with SO many wonderful options only 1-2 blocks away.
City centre location
karin bon 11/05/2017 23:06Lovely location, we had a suite, with a kitchen, shower/ bathroom which was huge, lounge, a very nice large bedroom, and hall, all fully equipped at 140 euros a night.
it over looked the court yard and was very light and quiet a very peaceful nights sleep was had by us both, woke up to the birds singing.
Great to have the parking, it's worth paying the extra for it, need to book it in advance.
Not an easy place to find we had sat nav thank goodness or we would have been driving around for hours.
There is so much space, the lounges are enormous lots of room so you don't feel crushed.
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant.
I would definitely stay there again if we go back to La Rochellle.
Not quite what I expected
Andy Lon 23/04/2017 17:42The hotel advertises itself as five star. I got a "classic" room for two. I would say the room was about 3,5 stars. The bed is fine. The bathroom is old and worn-down, 2-3 stars there. The breakfast is quite basic, but I get what I need. I did not have it included in price; it had been much cheaper to have coffee and croissant in one of the cafe's nearby so consider it. For me, I opted for convenience. The lobby is nice fresh and promises more than what you get. Location is good, in the old town a short walk from the harbour.
Cold atmosphere and scruffy rooms, not up to 5 star standards and we were overcharged
Hedi53on 17/03/2017 18:04If this is a 5 star hotel, I have stayed in 2 star hotels that were better. The rooms are scruffy, cupboards don't close, stains on the carpets and the whole room needed painting, chipped everywhere. The staff were almost rude the morning we went to pay, we had been quoted 97 euro the night including breakfast and they charged us 107 euro for the room and 10 euro each for breakfast, which is 30 euro more than was quoted. The first and last time for us, not recommended, there are plenty of hotels around, try another one. p.s. even had to pay for parking!!
Lovely find in great location
Karen Aon 23/01/2017 18:38we stayed one night in a Classic suite (Room 11) - all good, fridge, 2 rooms both with TV and well equiped bathroom bath robes supplied. Staff on the desk very helpful and courtious. Underground car park in the centre of town is diffinately worth booking in advance. Breakfast had a good choice although off season we where the only people there ...
we loved it and will be back!
