No relationship to the photos (sadly!)
Safadinhoon 07/01/2009 22:54My wife and I stayed at the Maria Eugenia Christmas Eve.
We arrived for a one night stopover on the road to Zihuatanejo.
The Lonely Planet guide described a modern hotel and the pictures of the hotel I found on the Internet made it look spectacular! Unfortunately the photos must have been taken with Dubya was still hitting the sauce.
Unfortunately, if modern, it sure aged quickly. I would consider the Maria Eugenia to be a one star hotel, bordering on two star territory.
The rooms are very shabby and the kitchette and refrigerator looked to be about twenty years old. It would have been a good place to crash drunk but unfortunately Mexican beer seems to have lost its kick for me!
The night we stayed there the open air restaurant had a Xmas party with loud music until the early hours but that was not that much of a problem. We did eat there upon arrival and found the food to be mediocre.
The hotel is next to a shopping mall and only about 100 meters walk from the beach. It was only US$60, another plus.
Avoid Hacienda Maria Eugenia
Chris-in-CTon 23/10/2006 05:30I recently traveled to Acapulco with my family and stayed here. We had three rooms two were very clean, but the bathroom in the third was dark and had some ceiling mold. We paid extra for all three rooms to have a working kitchenette, the second night the stove was sparking in one of the rooms. This was never corrected, they just turned off the gas and never refunded any of the money. That room also had a problem with the air conditioner. We notified the front desk on Sunday, it wasn't fixed till Thursday. In another room $100 was stolen while we sat by the pool.

Such A Deal!
MexItalianon 15/03/2005 05:30We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 2005. The hotel is right on the strip, a short block away from the Playa Condesa. We asked for a quiet room and were accomodated w ith a room in the rear of the building. Perfect! Once we were in, we didn't hear a thing! The room itself was pretty standard, nothing special, but clean and functional. The swimming pool (with a slide) was refreshing and the outdoor restaurant was delicious. (Great buffet breakfast for about $6 USD). The best part was the price - about 45 USD per night! And all the cabbies knew it. Try it, you'll like it!
Awesome hotel!
on 20/10/2004 05:30We loved the Hacienda Maria Eugenia! I've been to Acapulco 7 times and each time I passed this hotel I thought, oh, I'm lucky I don't have to stay in a cheap hotel, blah, blah, blah.... I had bought packages previously but my last trip in September there were no packages from Toronto so we had to book our flight and wing it with our hotel and we had limited funds. The room we had in this hotel was no only bigger but actually nicer than rooms we had stayed in at the highrise hotels that cost twice as much! The hotel itself is simple and just across the street from the beach (literally a 2 minute walk). The rooms are spacious, have little kitchenettes and the hotel has a restaurant with great room service! It's location is great - right on the costera near everything. Our room in Sept cost only $50 USD and that was split between 2 of us! I would definitely recommend the Hacienda Maria - you won't be disappointed!
