The grounds were extensive and interesting (great place for kids, with lots of running around room & animals to see), the rooms were spacious and comfortable, our meal was delicious and great value, we didn't feel we were in another bland hotel room yet it was private enough that we didn't feel we were intruding into someone else's space. What's not to love?

ObreeandCoon 20/02/2017 10:41This wonderful old place in the bush is full of old fashioned character. Nice to walk around the property and visit the horses and the see the scenery.
Light up the fireplace and enjoy the complimentary port!
It is highly recommended to let the lovely host Jennifer cook you a meal as you are a long way from any restaurants.
You are able to cook using your own supplies in the well equiped kitchen if needed.

LisOzon 27/01/2017 08:41We stayed in the King Suite which was spacious and extremely comfortable. The sunroom with its view over the beautiful gardens was wonderful. The kitchen facilities were great and there was always the option to have meals cooked for you...even a special menu for Australia Day. The host, Jenifa was so friendly and made contact with us before our visit to make sure we were aware of the meal options just in case we didn't want to self cater.
Highly recommend this property.
Revisiting wonderland

We enjoyed the peaceful location and the amazing setup of the cabin. We had everything we needed and was privileged enough to use the washing machine and clothes line.

We enjoyed a fabulous week with Jenifa and Graham, just the relaxing holiday we needed. Hamlet Downs is within easy reach of Hobart, and close to Mount Field National Park, Salmon Ponds and the delightful town of New Norfolk. We also went for a day trip to Pedder and Gordon Lakes and Strathgordon Dam. If you are looking for a great place to relax and enjoy a few days in beautiful Tasmania, Hamlet Downs is the place to stay.
