Nice place to stay near International Trade Centre
Katherine Zon 23/12/2012 15:24The hotel is located on a quiet street. After the subway is connected the location becomes really good. The room is nice and clean, staff is very kind and helpful. Breakfast is suprisingly good, many choices and tastes nice. The Henan style restaurant inside is OK but pricy while the Korean restaurant is very tasty!
Lovely 4 star hotel - shame no-one speaks English!
Charlotte_London_UKon 09/04/2008 14:40Stayed here 2 nights as last part of a school tour in Beijing/Xi'an. The hotel looks lovely and the rooms are realy nice and very luxurious. I did have to tell my school group NOT to take anything from the room though - loads of the usual freebies had price tags attached. The rooms are hot and the air-con is centrally operated. We left our window open (22nd floor) and that helped but the trip was in April not high summer.
No-one speaks English at this hotel - RED TAPE rules and you cannot get even the simplest task completed without acres of form filling.... 3rd floor is an entertainments area - this meant lots of noise and lots of drunks on the Sat night we were there.
Overall OK but not somewhere I would particularly want to stay again.
Couldn't sleep in 80 degree room
cal-rdhon 14/06/2005 05:30The hotel was ok except it was near impossible to sleep all three nights because they do not turn the air conditioning systems on until it is hotter than 28 degrees centigrade. I had a sharper image "sleep soother" machine with a digital thermometer and our room was 80 degrees and even leaving our window open all night it only got it down to 79 degrees. We had a woman in management come up to our room to check the A/C and she told us of their policy.
Other than that the room was fine except for very dirty grout with gaps and mold, a common problem in China. They don't seem to scrub it. But after a while we were just happy that all the hotel rooms had western toilets and hot water.
My next time abroad I am going to search out a 240V fan and take it everywhere with me.
The cashier at the Bank of China in the lobby shortchanged me on the currency change from travelers checks to their currency, the only time that happened in China. Our friend (male) got more money than I did.
