Tired room... nice bar

I selected it because I'm an HHonours member & have a certain amount of loyalty to the Hilton group.. and also because it was very close to the airport & I had an early(ish) flight in the morning. The bar was very nice & the food was good... nice friendly staff. The room was tired & dated, not dirty but how do I put it.. like a 2 star B+B... Mostly I have had very good reviews for the Hilton group, but this is the second poor one & I'm starting to think about moving my loyalty to another brand. Disappointing probably sums it up.
Not a great impression
AJ Pon 30/08/2017 19:20Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and really was not impressed.
As long as a room is clean, tidy and has up to date features I don't really care to be honest but this was my first ever Hilton experience and it was actually lower down the scale than the Premier Inn I had stayed in a month previous.
The reception area was fine although parking was £12 a night to add to the cost, the hallways showing their age with thread bare carpet at times and door frames that could do with a good sanding.
Our room really suffered from a lack of plug sockets; there were two either side of the room and none around the bed area.
The mattress for the bed was smaller than the bed frame so the base was visible and each morning when you got up you scraped your leg on it and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling above the bath and a really nasty looking stain from the over flow hole to the plug hole.
All in all a really bad impression from a very well known brand.

harmans683on 30/08/2017 14:11Although the customer service was excellent I cant say the same for our room. Upon entering the room for the first time i was greeted with a smell of mould and what can only be described as stale cigarettes. I booked 3 nights for an event at the NEC and only stayed in my room for one night. The other 2 I actually drove back home (40 min journey). This is probably the worst hilton i have ever stayed in, i can get much better rooms at half the cost at premier in. The hotel clearly needs renovating, I would not recommend staying here, save your money and stay in a 2 star hotel which will probably have cleaner rooms.
Ticks all the boxes.
Travelling-Dave-88on 30/08/2017 11:19Car park and hotel deal prior to flying out next day. Good staff, room, bar (Purity ale excellent), restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Didn't use pool but looked good. Dinner was really very good. Catered well for dietary restrictions too. Beef carpaccio, cod cheeks, veal, steak, hot choc pudd.
Shuttle service to airport, and now they care for our car for 2 weeks.
We'll be doing this again.
Our best park and fly stay yet
Simon Mon 29/08/2017 21:16We were very pleased with the car park, the reception staff good, the room had plenty of space, tea making and a good bathroom, and the van driver taking us to the airport was exceptional.
We ate at the nearby Resorts World, TGI Friday, just a short walk from the hotel.
The whole process was great and easy, a fantastic start to the holiday. Worth every penny, better than a standard car park on site.
