Lovely stay in this beautiful building

The room was comfortable the single bed appreciated as often its a sofa bed in some hotels and uncomfortable to say the least! Bathroom was lovely and modern with large shower. Staff extremely welcoming and helpful. Loved the old building with the large windows facing the old west pier, the grand sweeping staircases, beautiful ceilings in the breakfast room mixed with the comtempary bar. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

JulesMason 15/08/2017 11:32Stayed on the 12th August for my husbands birthday treat. Traveling down from Cambridge, choose a large room with sea view and balcony online, checked in at reception was told the room would be ready in half an hour, this was fine as it was only 2-30. Came back at 3 pm and was given the key. I was so disappointed as the room was nothing like the photo online! Thought they had made a mistake so went back down to reception ( apparently it was the correct room £330 for a small double which you can just about walk round the bed with a view of the toilet! I was appalled that it was nothing like the photo online. Eventually I was offered a room similar to what i was expecting but was told it wouldn't be ready until 4pm which I had no complaint about, however I returned again at 4-10pm to be told oh sorry the room won't be ready until 4-45! What?? Was offered complementary drink in the bar! Wasn't very impressed so was told also complementary drink in our room. Eventually arrived in our room at 4-45 better room but no drinks? Phoned down to reception didn't know anything about it. Then received a phone call asking what drinks were offered as reception have no idea what they are doing! Asked if this could be sorted out promptly as we have wasted enough of our day! Paid the full bill the next morning. Not a happy experience,spoilt what should have been a happy relaxing time. When a guest paying £330for one night with no breakfast also £40 for the car park I didn't expect to come away extremely disappointed. Offering complementary drinks really don't compensate these errors !

422philipeon 14/08/2017 21:54Great hotel good location for shops and the lanes, the staff was very helpful and pleasant, we one problem that the room service did not change the wet towels or clean the room and on the last morning there were no hot water in the hole of the hotel but still had a good time.
Good stay shame about the pillows

Nights sleep affected by the pillows being so thin and small, for such a large comfortable bed the pillows were disappointing and affected a good nights sleep. Apart from this good hotel and friendly helpful staff

CalChrison 14/08/2017 11:15Loved this hotel. It feels rather grand in a traditional way but still has all the modern features you'd expect. Checked in and were given an upgrade. Although our room wasn't overlooking the sea it's size made up for it. Nice high ceilings and good decor the in room. I loved the position of the hotel on the front and across the road from the Brighton Eye. It's in a brilliant location for shopping, the beach and eating out. Staff were fab, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was really good and efficiently managed even when really busy. All in all a fabulous stay. We'll be back hopefully before too long.
