Great stay for Special Olympics Sheffield

Stayed 6th to 12th of August for the Special Olympics in Sheffield. A great place to stay easy access to Sheffield by road. Hotel is in very well-kept garden settings. All staff very helpful and polite, especially Lukasz on Reception who tried hard and succeeded in getting us a better room that was very spacious, on arrival - thank you. Very pleasant and clean throughout with good choice and quality of food at breakfast. Used swimming pool every day but did not use well-equipped gym that has separate room for free weights.
Next day we travelled to Holiday Inn Norwich (east) that was really poor in comparison, especially the rooms that were so small you had to get onto a bed to let another person pass you. Thanks to all at Holiday Inn, Doncaster.

This was just an overnight stay so sadly not enough time to use the facilities but the rooms are tastefully decorated, good size with everything you need, beds extremely comfortable and the bar is cosy.

In need of tlc

Stayed here for just one night. Reception check in is very slow even though there was only one in the queue in front of me. Rooms were a little tired and in need of urgent upgrade. For this price I would have expected a worn out shabby desk chair, and a shower from the seventies.
Breakfast was ok, but not wonderful, and lacking sufficient staffing.

Needs some attention.

Rooms badly in need of refurbishment

Paid a premium for a so called "Executive Room", the first one we were allocated had 9 decorative and functional problems and the second room had wallpaper damage, marks on the wall and both had extremely outdated showers that are only suitable for anyone under 5ft tall.

Due to the problems experienced we were offered a free meal in the restaurant. The starters that were ordered left a lot to be desired, and the mixed grill main had 2 items that were poor – gammon that couldn’t be cut and very dry black pudding that was inedible. When these problems were pointed out, we received an apology and were then left for nearly an hour without contact from a member of staff, resulting in me eventually having to walk round the restaurant trying to find one of the 2 members of staff who were working to ask them the reason for us being left unattended. Needless to say the member of staff I spoke to didn’t even know we were still at our table and waiting to complete our meal.

The one saving grace for our stay was the outstanding helpful and caring approach of Heather (?) who was working in the Preludes Bar on Saturday helping me look after my partner who was unwell.

staff are great, they cant do enough and are so people centred

the food was great and Lee/Tom and Duty Manager were great as w3as the new staff at reception

fantastic service from all front line to management like Emma H makes it all psosible, from the booking and ensuring all is in place

improvements for next time - we stayed in the main building and to be fair a/c needs to be improved as it kept turning on and off
thats a building issue and not a staff issue however

why have you new mananagement got rid of the cocktail drinks menu?
