Holiday inn Gloucester
Barry Lon 20/06/2017 22:23Hotel in parts need a bit more TLC especially the bedrooms that I and my friends. Were allocated. I did ask for a quiet room but at the very far end of two corridors was I felt a bit OTT. I did try and change it but to no avail. I am a regular user of this brand both here and abroad with over a 1000 points to my name which didn't mean a thing. The Hotel was far from full. The room I had would make a single room with a single bed and some modern furniture. Breakfast was typical with plenty of choice. Evening meals were good. Staff were very pleasant.
Three night of comfort.
Brenda Con 20/06/2017 17:36We were with a party of 29', but we were treated with very good service. Our rooms were comfortable, clean and well equipped
The foods was of a standard that reflected the price we paid. And enjoyable. Having ordered in advance we were not kept waiting, and all ate at the same time.
Breakfast was as usual these days, we helped ourselves from the hot counter. There was a good variety to choose from.
corporate and dated
skybluedreameron 12/06/2017 21:19We stayed for 6 days and it wasn't the best hotel I've stayed in, that's for sure. The lounge and bar area is a bit corporate feeling, with no ambiance and overpriced drinks.
The bedrooms are dated and very small. The executive suites are nothing special but are the standard you would expect the ordinary rooms to be.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to pay the rack rate. Absolutely not worth paying that.
The swimming pool and gym are a reasonable size and were a definite attraction in an otherwise mediocre hotel.
Great reception staff but building in need of modernisation
kathw000on 29/05/2017 19:12Stayed for a long weekend while attending a wedding. The reception staff were very friendly but unfortunately we had one of the older rooms, not the more recently refurbished ones pictured on the website. As another reviewer has said, it all looks a little tired. The pool facilities are of a good standard but made less relaxing by the fact that children are allowed in until late in the evening. Would not recommend the food at all - we had two burgers and two drinks at a cost of nearly £40. Both the veggie and beef burger were overcooked and the chips were undercooked - we were unable to finish them. The bar is overpriced and staff are inattentive. The redeeming features of this hotel are the pool area (when not full of barely-supervised children) and the lovely reception staff, who could not do enough for us whenever we had a query. I am sure if they continue to modernise the rooms, keep their great receptionists and pay some attention to the food standards, the overall experience will be greatly improved. Would visit again but only as an overnight stay if passing through, as it;s not exactly cheap for what's on offer.
Meeting Suite?... Don't Bother... because they don't!
Mark Eon 29/05/2017 06:50I recently visited this hotel to view their meeting and accommodation facilities. Whilst I am aware of how plastic hotel staff can be, this is in meltdown! Thank you Cheltenham Chase Hotel (Q Hotels) for rescuing me.
Firstly, The hotel is not in Cheltenham... they wish!... It is an unwelcoming environment, no better than a Travel Lodge, at the backside (in more ways than one) of a remote commercial end of Gloucester, more or less in an industrial estate environment.
After a recent tour of their facilities, I received an abrupt, impersonal communication informing me that they could not accommodate my target dates; and, with this could not send me a 'proposal'. However, I had already received an inaccurately calculated 'costing' when I made an initial enquiry online.
Secondly, In the intern, I was contacted (and I may add 'all' communication was via email) by an off-site source, pledging their allegiance to our needs; it read:... "Thank you again for your interest in our hotel(s). We are excited for the opportunity to work with you. Your satisfaction is my number one concern; I want to ensure that you have received all the necessary information from the hotel(s) and if you have made your decision..." Mmmmmmm... I suggest a starting point would be to improve on pathetic potential client engagement processes... and temper it with honesty.. clearly customer 'satisfaction' is an empty vessel here.
In brief: not the right location... not the right environment... not the right cost... not the right service... not the right approach... and unprofessional. All-in-all... it wasn't right for us, nothing about the place was in any event. They propped up the bottom of 6 hotels approached for our business and accommodation needs. I recommend you look at either The Cheltenham Chase Hotel nearby or Jurys Inn the other side of town... both actually in Cheltenham... not in commercial estates in Gloucester!!!
