Tired and Needs Updating
davemillerffon 15/08/2017 03:32It is large and the staff are friendly, but it's not enough to make me want to stay again. The decor is old and worn. Carpets are stained and wallpaper is peeling. It has an indoor pool but you can smell it on the first floor. The rooms are OK. The restaurant is not a "chop house" but is advertised as one. The menu is limited; I had a steak which was way over done and tough. But at least it has a restaurant. There are better places to stay nearby.
Huge Hotel, one stop shop
perlanga2005on 13/07/2017 19:47Stayed here for a wedding in may. It's a very large location, ample parking. It's comfy and very clothes to freeway. No complaints, on location restaurant looked very popular. easy check in process. Would stay gain.
Needs Updating
Douglas Son 12/06/2017 01:30We stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding reception. While the actual conference room was OK, the rooms in this hotel are very dated. The hallway carpets are in bad need of replacing or a very extensive cleaning. The hotel actually is located in a quiet area which was a plus, and the staff was excellent.
Teething troubles, I hope.
Kathleen Qon 09/06/2017 22:09Checking in to Holiday Inn Express, Southgate was the only aspect of our stay at this hotel that was hassle free. Nicole was very helpful, the hotel had just undergone a major refurbishment, and the environment was top class. We had driven five hours from Buffalo, NY and arrived late..around 11.30 pm, and we were tired. The problems started when my significant other tried to turn on the TV to watch the news as is his habit. The TV required programming to turn on. Nader no circumstances could we get it to work. Frustrated, he got in the shower while I waited for Nicole to ray to program the TV. She arrived with five different remotes, and as unable to get the TV to work. We had booked in for two nights, and she promised us that in the morning e would get another room with a working TV, if one was available. Frustrated but accepting, we went to sleep.
The next morning we went to breakfast at 9:40am ( advertised serving times 6 am-10 am). There was NO food left! The empty containers where the food had been were still laid out in the breakfast area. We asked the kitchen staff if more food was to be brought out, and were advised "There's thirteen minutes left before we leave". There was to be no more food made available.Im sorry, but if there are 13 minutes left on the clock, doesn't that mean we have 13 minutes left to be served? And if the staff know that the hotel is sold out, does it not behoove them to make sure there is enough food available for a sold out crowd? I have never before heard of a hotel running out of food. The staff went on to resume their conversation, while rudely ignoring their guests. We were not the only guests to experience this abusive behavior.
We returned to our room and called IHG Guest Services, and told them of our experience. They were horrified and called the front desk. We advised them that we would not stay another night in that hotel and were given a room in another IHG hotel.
Seriously, I would want to know that this hotel had worked out the bugs in its operation before staying there again.
A big shout out to Diamond, the IHG representative who took such good care of us.
Hotel Nees a Face Lift
NuHatton 28/05/2017 12:25Hotel is very tired - rooms are tiny - bathroom is extra tiny. Carpets need to be replaced. Morning breakfast buffet is minimal. Banquet services and food is good. Hotel definitely needs some attention.
