Excellent base in the centre of El Calafate
NomadicBoyson 02/04/2017 17:39This is right in the heart of El Calafate. It's very cosy with really friendly staff /family owners. We had no problems at all as a gay couple and were really warmly received. Our room had a jacuzzi which we highly recommend!
The staff makes this place great!
Marvie Pon 17/06/2016 09:42Got lucky with this place! Stayed here in March 1-3 for $40USD per night. Alan, the cook, made us delicious fish for dinner and packed a great lunch for our Ice Trek at Perito Moreno Glacier. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Beautiful rooms and view from hostel. Had a great time practicing my Spanish with staff and they practiced their English with us! Short walk to town and supermarket.

JMR1210on 03/03/2016 22:46This is a clean place hotel, quite environment with 10-15min from the center, price acceptable for El Calafate (check on the net for good deals), good reception/ nice staff and kitchen chief on top!!!

Explanation still on hold. The Lupama is a kind of simple and poor designed Hostel. Something went complete wrong. Reception only in spainish no other languages. Seems like young and unexpirience folks , not involved. The room is poor designed. This was not pleasant .
A total rip off
Douglas Lon 22/03/2012 02:03On 4JAN I reserved a room online for 6 & 7JAN at $140 per night. I arrived at 14:30 on 6JAN and the price was $190. It wasn't worth it and it was not the quoted price. Told them I didn't want the room. They said 'read the contract'. Complained via E-mail to Booking.com After a number of E-mail exchanges to their office in the U.K., they said I'd be charged a $80 cancellation fee. On 25JAN they charged my CC $194.56 I'm fighting them with my CC company.
I went .5 miles down the street and stayed in a much nicer hotel for $70 a night. Hosteria Lupama is a rip off and Booking.com is even worse. Don't get hooked by then bums!!!
