What People are saying

Fantastic

ASTRID Don 26/08/2017 11:26

Excellent service, uber comfy bed, cool boutique hotel, free bikes to explore area. I wish I could stayed longer. Excellent location in car-free zone but hotel picks you up in electric golf cart so you don't need to drag your luggage.

Great Hotel, Great Room

TheHoudinison 14/08/2017 16:43

We spent two nights at this beautiful hotel facing the water in Rovinj. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hallway to the room is strangely black, and the elevator did not work one day while we were there. The breakfasts were pleasant. We also had dinner one night at the hotel which was good and had excellent service. The city of Rovinj has entertainment in the form of large bands with huge loudspeakers on the plaza immediately facing the hotel from time to time. Unfortunately, we were at the hotel for a rock band that played until midnight the first night we were there and a singer/guitarist the second night. Our room was far from sound proofed. We were highly disappointed that we had not been warned of the probable music when we made our reservation or when we checked in. When I mentioned this to the front desk person, we were met with the extreme indifference, which I indicated was not an acceptable attitude. After speaking with her manager, the front desk person apologized to us and we were given a bottle of champagne. We hope that future people making reservations at this hotel are warned that there could be a great deal of noise. (We were told that if the noise from a wedding were to go on until 5 am, they would warn their customers.) This hotel would have been given a higher rating had it not been for the front desk person and the casual acceptance of blasting music throughout the evening.

Exceptional and memorable

Absolutely loved our stay. The location couldn't be better and the room was exceptional. Attention to detail was much appreciated. Wonderful staff and service and only wish we had more time there. We will certainly return.

Best hotel in Rovinj!

We loved Rovinj and this hotel has the best location. Breakfast was also very good. They have a nice bar, cafe, and fantastic views of the riviera. Our room had a view of the sea and it was beautiful to look at from the window. Everyone there was very helpful. The hotel has elevators which is nice that you don't have to walk up any stairs which is common in these towns. In case you wondered if Rovinj is worth visiting, it is a fantastic city and easily the best city in Istria.

Expectations way too high...

We booked this property far in advance and communication was excellent in terms of picking a room and general advance information. However, I do believe most of this communication is with Maistra who owns many hotels so more specific requests etc. may be passed along. We booked a Grand Piazza Suite for a few reasons...extra space...assurance of a bathtub and shower and mostly for the view. Well we got the space and bathtub but oh that view.!I will break my review down to better explain our experience.
--Check in. Nice greeting and shown to Suite 8 on a middle floor. As we were being shown the room I immediately asked about the noise as all windows were closed and then, sort of as an afterthought, the gentleman mentioned that there is a hotel being built across the harbor...I open the drapes and wow what a view and noise. They were driving pile and it was loud. He left and I went down to speak with Monika who really had nothing else to offer me and while she was sympathetic just said it is "unfortunate". She also was honest and said the construction goes into the night late. I was told they would end June 15th for the summer but that did not happen. We spent 4 nights there as the entire town was full up. I was able to get a small discount from a manager whom I never met ,but the general attitude on this is nothing they can do. And they can't! They are not going to tell you in advance. So if you plan to stay at the hotel be warned and I would not take a room on the harbor. This project will be going for at least another year if not more...I believe they stop the really loud stuff mid summer but will resume in Sept.
--Location of the hotel is central and good for exploring. To be honest the iconic views of Rovinj that I was seeking for photos etc. are over on the other side or from the island. There is lots of action at the central square at the hotel...nice I guess for some but the views are better elsewhere.
--Decor of hotel. Dark, darker and darkest. Simply put this hotel is designed to be dark...I think the goal is restful and edgy. A matter of taste here and I think some love it. I was okay with it but even the room can be dark with some sort of tinted glass wall to give the illusion of more space...ran into it a few times. Beds comfortable and nice bathroom for sure. The room is well equipped although I would just put some bottles of water in there and skip the little water brought in a decanter each day. Again personal choice. Some may find this a nice touch.
--Service in general is good...Monika at reception was my main contact and she was helpful and of course not at all responsible for the construction and noise.
--No spa etc. here but they refer you to the Lone Hotel which is a good walk ..reception will arrange to take your over if you want. There is a sea walk which was closed due to....you guessed it...construction!! I had emailed in advance for some appointments to be made at the spa but the appointments did not get made. Not sure what happened. As the Lone spa is busy we could not get 2 appointments as requested but managed to stop by and get at least one on our own.
Nice pool over there...good option for a hot summer afternoon.
--Breakfast was included and a la carte which we really appreciated. Those buffets get old if you are traveling for some weeks. Excellent service and food at the restaurant for breakfast.
--I had hotel make dinner reservations for each night and had them picked out. I find that often by doing my own research I come up with better choices and all reservations were made as requested.

In summary this is an expensive hotel...even more so if you select a room such as we did...in retrospect and had I been aware of the impact of that construction I would have booked elsewhere....or even on an island. I recommend asking some questions about room location if booking Hotel Adriatic. The hotel itself is peaceful with rooms nicely spaced and good soundproofing but this is not a quiet area...there is a nightclub "Club Boa" right near the rooms facing the harbor and while the Club seemed quiet during our stay I can imagine if that place was going full tilt during "the season"? We tend to prefer "charm" over trendy so the decor was not our style but no question done in a very artistic manner with lots of interesting art to be seen on the dark walls. I think the hotel can be a good choice for some but personally I would not return. Again I fully understand the construction is not at the discretion of the hotel; however I think when a potential guest is asking so many questions about room choice based on view ,to have suggested this room with a straight on view of the construction is probably not the best customer service. I feel that I should have been cautioned about the construction and as often happens if you go with too high of expectations a let down is more likely. Also as a side note while reception did a nice job. when a guest has a complaint or concern and is there for 4 nights my experience has been that a manager is interested enough to make it a point to introduce themselves to the guest..this is a small hotel and the manager Mr. Simunovic never did. He did however respond to emails.
