What People are saying

Very good location, amazing room!

Francisco Jose Aon 05/08/2017 20:07

Hotel located by the lake Alster. No parking available but you can find some parking places in the Street nearby. 30 minutes walking from the center of the town, restaurants, etc.. Strong wifi. Very comfortable beds. Spacious bathroom. Good breakfast. Nice people. Although there were some construction workings in the hotel, there was absolutely no noise or annoyance.

Such an amazing hotel

My partner took me here for a lil surprise break away and he hit lucky !! Such an amazing boutique hotel with loads of character. It's over the road from an amazing lake and also a bridge you can put a lock on. My 1 and only down part was the size of the shower, we are both 6'2 men and this wasn't easy to shower in as they are really small. Overall it was such a really good break and I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Look forward to returning when the refurb is done. The staff are amazing and can't do enough.

They are going through a refurb at the minute but that didn't bother us.

Still wonderful after 20+years

I first stayed at the Hotle Alsterblick some 20+ years ago and it's still as charming. Wonderful location, great breakfast included, a great choice of restaurants all within walking distance. It's worth paying for the larger rooms with balcony on the lake side.

Historic Hotel

This 19th century hotel lies at the heart of Hamburg with views of the beautiful Außenalster lake but not our part when we were there due to scaffolding at front with renovations going on. The lift is another experience too! Our room had double bed & we were able to change rooms for a slightly higher rate after 2 nights of not sleeping so well as use to super king size bed. This room was more spacious and better ensuite too. Rooms have coffee machine and free wifi. Breakfast is buffet style, a very good choice, & eggs cooked to yr choice can be ordered along with cappuccino/lattes . Staff were very friendly. It took about 10- 15 minutes to walk to v good train system into city. A pleasant outdoor seating cafe by lake is a few yards opposite to right when facing lake from hotel.

Love the Old World Charm and Perfect View

Lartemison 30/05/2016 15:49

I love this hotel! The ornate entryway sets the mood for the old world charm found inside.

Entering the hotel, the first thing you see is the elevator, build in 1902. Don't be afraid! It works perfectly. Insert the key in the lock and the glass elevator slowly descends. Unlock the door, close the double wooden doors behind you, and rise in stately splendor to your room.

Our room was a superior double on the front of the building. The ceiling was at least 18 feet high with a decorative plaster medallion from which a large chandelier hung. The beds were covered in crisp white fitted sheets with pristine duvets neatly folded on top. A large wardrobe, desk, and two upholstered chairs completed the room.

The bathroom was large with very nice fixtures, including a heated towel rack, a sink with ample room for toiletries, a large free-standing glassed in shower, an adjustable lighted magnifying make-up mirror, and hairdryer. Very, very nice.

The view from our window was of Lake Alster with spring leaves budding, sailboats racing, walkers and bikers on the park pathways, and best of all...a nesting swan and her mate which could be seen from our window, but even better when standing just yards away from her nest along the water.

Breakfast was served in the sunny restaurant area with its large windows looking out on the street with the park and water beyond. Breakfast was amazing by American hotel standards: bread, butter, jam, rolls, muesli, yogurt, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, hard boiled and soft boiled eggs, pancakes, meats, cheeses, juices, coffee. Amazing!

The furnishings in the building are spare, allowing the architectural details to shine. Also the hotel has many energy saving features: motion sensing lights in halls, and room electricity controlled by your door key (your electronics will not charge when you are out of the room).

Yes, there was one drawback. The buildings next door were being renovated, so there was a great deal of noise during the day and scaffolding which went in front of our window, obscuring the otherwise perfect view. But still, I adored this hotel.

There is a nice little grocery store just around the corner and a much larger grocery store about a mile walk. Are you a knitter? Handwerk, a lovely yarn store is also just around the corner.

Not only would I stay here again, I go to sleep at night dreaming I am sleeping under the white duvet at the Hotel Alsterblick.
