Great hotel in amazing location
LB6931on 07/08/2017 16:07Your opinion of the Astarea Hotel will pretty much depend upon which accommodation at the hotel you are based at. The complex comprises of the main hotel, the annex building, apartments and villas. We stayed at the annex, which is used by most UK tour operators, in our case Jet2 Holidays. I have read some pretty unfair reviews about the annex. The rooms are smaller than in the hotel building, and ok, some are a bit dated, but come on, this is a three star hotel after all. The place is spotless, super clean.
The views over Mlini Bay from the annex are the best! Every room at the Annex has a sea view over the bay.
The Annex is not up a hill as suggested by another reviewer, but merely a 5 minutes walk from the main reception on flat tarmac, and yes, it goes up a little- some people need a reality check!
The staff at the hotel are very professional. The reception staff and guest relation team are extremely helpful.
If you are on half board, the breakfast and evening meal are genuinely very good, although some of the dishes may appear to be "old school" for some. We loved it, so did our little 7 year old foster daughter. The staff at the hotel restaurant could not do enough for us. Special thanks to Marko for exceptional customer care.
The pool is great, with plenty of comfortable sun loungers, and from there, there is a direct access to the pebble beach. The pool area was cleaned every night. There is also an large indoor pool.
For lunch, all restaurants attached to the hotel (Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel Group - Astarea Hotel), on the promenade are good and not expensive. For example, Mlini Pizzeria offers spectacular views and great value. Please note that if you charge the bill on your room from all 3 restaurants on the promenade, you will benefit from a 10% discount!
This was our fourth holiday in Croatia and this time we chose Mlini (having stayed in Split, Pula / Rovinj and Dubrovnik / Lapad in previous years). Mlini is great if you are after a quaint small place, away from the crowd. The coastline is superb, and Dubrovnik and classy Cavtat are only a bus ride away, either by local bus (highly recommended) or by using the hotel shuttle, if you prefer the convenience.
We only met decent people from all nationalities here. No slobs, plebs and UK binge drinkers to be seen...
The promenade goes all the way to the Sheraton complex in Srebreno, where you will also find a shopping mall with a good selection of shops (DM, Muller, H&M, etc) and a large Konzum supermarket. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk from the Astarea to the Sheraton, and the views are amazing!
Highly recommended!
Our 16th visit to the Astarea Hotel, Mlini !
johnandchris2017on 06/08/2017 18:31We have just returned from our 16th stay at the Astarea Hotel, Mlini ! Our first was when it was in Yugoslavia. Over the years we have stayed in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels and have been lucky to have several holidays each year. The Astarea is a 3 star and in our opinion a very good one. The hotel is backed by a range of mountains in a beautiful position in pretty Mlini. The hotel is very clean, some of the rooms may be considered to be on the small size but how do you alter the structure of a hotel which was built about 40 years ago but which would have been ahead of its time. It now has an excellent outside swimming pool and a separate children's pool, a very good beach bar and a la carte restaurant. The main restaurant in the hotel offers a good selection of food which improves every year. Also the furnishings and facilities are improved every year and we are always welcomed back as long lost friends. Thankyou Astarea, we love you.

Our experience in this hotel was great. We had great time. People were very polite, animation team at the pool was great, the food (oh my God, delicious )!!! Only good thing we can say about this hotel, staff and the little town Mlini. Dubrovnik is 15 minutes far away, with a boat...Worth seeing this beautiful town, with great historical buildings...
Teodora and Marin...Serbia...
A hidden Gem!
Nick Con 06/08/2017 09:11Booked this hotel online just for a cheap getaway for a week to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Did not expect the quality and service we got from this beautifully located Hotel. We were staying on a bed and breakfast holiday, so can only really comment on the breakfast as far as the food goes. No complaints from any of us. Very wide variety, hot and cold offerings, all very tasty. Our room was amazing, we had a 2 bedroomed apartment and the balcony had the most amazing view of the beautiful bay of Mlini. The staff here were a credit to the Hotel, efficient and friendly. It was always easy to get a sunbed and the indoor heated seawater pool was great. Mlini is a lovely small place with a harbour and a few restaurants that were all good and also you can get a water taxi to Dubrovnik from the harbour. Great hotel in a great location, highly recommended.
Loved it
Wozzer38on 05/08/2017 19:54Great location for Dubrovnik, staff are friendly, rooms are basic but air conditioning and showers are fantastic. Food is standard but had everything we needed. Place is clean, pools are good. Shame there is no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. Mattresses aren't the comfiest.
