What People are saying

Great find!

Zoe Con 09/08/2017 17:31

I'd been researching hotels to stay in Austin for quite some time, I happened to find Hotel Ella purely by chance.

The photo of the exterior of the hotel looked great and so I couldn't help but look into this hotel further.

I booked a Double Queen room & was delighted to find out, these were actually king size beds instead. Ridiculously comfortable too!

We were made to feel very welcome upon checkin & we left our car to be valet parked.

The room was huge, bathroom was well stocked with toiletries & a hairdryer.

The Parlour Bar served great cocktails, we got there just in time for happy hour, which was a bonus.

I recommend the Longhorn Margarita & my Husband enjoyed a Negroni Limone.

The outdoor pool area looked beautiful, everything was well maintained.

We had breakfast in Goodall's Kitchen, which was very nice.

The hotel itself is a short walk away from the State Capitol building, if the heat outside is too much, Hotel Ella provide a free town car service within a 3 mile radius.

In all, we'd highly recommend Hotel Ella, hopefully we'll be back in Austin again one day.

Cute, Quaint

Cute, quaint little hotel. Excellent food (loved the red fish ceviche and spinach salad--pls keep on the menu) and wonderful service staff! My one constructive criticism is the carpet. I think if you replace the carpet in the rooms, halls and stairways with wood flooring it will put a nice finishing touch on the hotel. There were a few noticeable stains on the carpets which took away from the overall ambience. Nice pool area, although would have loved for pool to be longer for lap swim, tiny exercise room but lucked out this time and got the only treadmill. Thanks for the hospitality!

Amazing hotel andstaff

Stayed here for 5 nights from July 24th. Architecture of the hotel is amazing. Artwork is fantastic. But best of all are the people who work there. They could not do enough to help you. Especially the valet guys working in 100 deg weather.

Stayed here while visiting the Capitol. Well appointed rooms, super service, great food, fabulous pool. Car service available and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Location is great for visiting the Capitol and UT.

Boutique prices and reception areas, mediocre rooms

innocentsabroad30on 24/07/2017 20:06

Hotel Ella looked so promising and does have a beautiful reception area, restaurant, bar, and porch as well as fantastic staff who are friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, the rooms are actually in a different building that comes across as a motel dressed up with flat screen TVs, [crookedly-hung] artwork, and local artisan-made bath products. We stayed in the poolside room (described on Booking.com as a "suite" which is a terrible exaggeration of the small space with one chair and one tiny love-seat 'sofa' adjacent to the bed - we had to move furniture to fit the baby's crib - the tiny bathroom, and sink in the bedroom area) and shortly upon arrival noticed the strong mildew stench coming from the sink as well as the dirty carpet - after 20 minutes of crawling around our baby's feet and knees were turning black (this doesn't happen at home).

We reported the mildew problem but they seem to have 'fixed' it by pouring something down the sink to mask the smell - there was a strong perfumed scent and then right back to the mildew one hand wash later. Stained upholstery, crooked fixtures, and ragged, fraying bath towels added to the careless mediocrity of the guest room. No coffee making facilities in the room, one bathrobe, one bottle of still water, and the old iPhone 30-pin charger. The cheap hotel we stayed at in Louisiana during this road trip was more up to date and without the boutique aspirations.

I imagine this place is great for events, receptions, dinners, and drinks but it is by no means the luxury, boutique hotel it purports to be. This would all be far more acceptable if it advertised itself as a 3 star motel and lowered their prices.
