What People are saying

Hmm.. nice but..

Kate Kon 11/08/2017 11:29

I stayed 2 nights alone.
The hotel was connected to the train station, so it was good when it rained :) However, I could smell kind of cigarette everywhere. Hallway, room..yeah everywhere. And there was a thing I was disappointed. I asked a consiege a restaurant that I would taste some sushi. She recommened a restaurant. It was 5 min by taxi. I asked whether I needed to make an appointment. She said me to call by myself. I was a little shocked. I'm a foreign visitor, aren't I?? Or I want too much?

Enjoyed the stay

Was here on business and the hotel is again a great location, close to the train station.

Room was lovely, clean, quiet and comfortable.

On the top floor there are various restaurants to choose from, used the Tepanyaki and this was first class, the chefs were friendly and explained all the food, etc.

Cost was very good, around 12,000JPY.

Would highly recommend this hotel.

Large rooms and connected to the station

phdtravelon 02/07/2017 09:28

Location is convenient with a covered connection though rather long walkway to the 2nd floor of the station past the food area. You can of course also walk ground level outside the station. Lots of taxis to get you to the castle and famous garden for sightseeing.

To eat: there is a nice newish shopping mall - Aeon Mall connected by underground passage with lots of restaurants on 2 levels and reasonably priced ones too.

Best point of this hotel is the rooms are large - a huge difference from some of the tiny rooms I have found in Crowne Plaza hotels and Holiday Inn hotels in Japan. If like me you been suffering from the tiny standard hotel rooms and bathrooms in Japan, this is a good choice.

Spoken English is not as good as in some of the hotels in bigger cities. Check out online discounts.

Nice hotel but a little aging

Sunny Kon 08/06/2017 14:39

Hotel is next to Okayama station with easy access(foot bridge connection), room is spacious but a little old fashion with dated toiletries, but staffs are polite and well trained, worthwhile to spend a stay.

Nice Hotel, Convenient Location, Difficult to Communicate

Kyra Hon 04/06/2017 14:35

I'm on a short term assignment in Okayama for 2 months for work and I'm staying in the Granvia that whole time. The hotel is nice-much smaller than typical US hotel rooms, but I expected that coming into it. There's mini fridge and a hot water boiler in my room so for a longer term stay I can keep some breakfast food and with a french press that I bought I can make coffee.

The hotel is really conveniently located-you don't even have to go outside to get to the train station. And you can also access the biggest mall in Okayama through underground tunnels.

The one difficult thing about being at the Granvia, and this is really all of Japan, is the language barrier. Most people know more English than I know Japanese so I'm certainly not judging, but it is difficult to communicate with the hotel staff. Most of the people at the front desk don't speak much English so basic requests are often mis-interpreted. Google translate has been a life saver!
