My First 5-Star Hotel Experience
nanakyeisportson 19/06/2017 20:58Having heard about Ulsan City, spending a night at this hotel was a jewel in the crown for me. I visited with my friend at the time when Cherry Blossoms were blooming. The park in front of the hotel had the cherries and the view overlooking the hotel was just aesthetic. Right adjacent the hotel is the Hyundai Department store to help you with shopping needs. I enjoyed varieties of sumptuous meals at the Topaz restaurant for the dinner buffet and breakfasts. The staff was helpful and friendly. The red velvet cake I got from 'The Shop' was so delicious. The rooms were clean, cozy and soothing for my weekend getaway. I couldn't have wished for more than that. The service quality won my admiration. It was indeed an enthralling experience for me and I strongly recommend this hotel for any traveler visiting Ulsan. Do not forget to take a tour of the nearby attractions like the Ilsan Beach and the Hyundai Heavy Industries yard.
Very ship-shape hotel
MerryXMASCaptainCookon 12/04/2017 14:24Somehow this hotel decor reminded me of a cruise ship cabin. I don't mean that it was small, but very clean, tidy and purposeful design. Not an architectural masterpiece, but solidly built. Obviously a great location for business at the adjacent shipyard.
Good Hotel Overall
MoseyOnon 07/04/2017 15:51My experience staying here for several nights was generally very good--somewhere between a 3 and a 4 on TA's scale, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The location is away from the center of town, so if you need to be centrally located you might want to consider other hotels. On the other hand, if you want to be away from the congestion of the center or you need to be close to Hyundai Heavy Industries, the location is very good. It's nice that there is a park right across the street.
My room was fine--big enough though not spacious. The bathroom was plenty big. I had a view over the park, so that was pleasant, although a couple of mornings there was some speech-making coming over a VERY loud speaker system somewhere outside. If I had been trying to sleep in it would have been impossible. It may have had something to do with the recent impeachment of the president. I don't know, and it certainly wasn't the hotel's fault.
Breakfast was fine. They also have a ground-floor restaurant where I had a nice bibimbap lunch. It was served quickly and was quite good. The hotel staff were generally quite friendly and wanted to be helpful--especially the concierge, who gave me some very good information about things to do and see in Ulsan when I had a free day. My only complaint, though, involves the staff. While they were generally friendly and attentive, a couple of times this was not the case. My first morning, I went down to breakfast about 15 minutes before the breakfast closing time. It was very clear when I entered the restaurant that the hostess was unhappy that I was there. She pointed out the time, gave me a sour look, and really acted as if I was a great burden. Hey, it's possible to eat breakfast in 15 minutes, no? All the other staff in the restaurant were great, and no one else complained (they even asked shortly after 9 if it would be OK to clean up the buffet), but it wasn't a nice start. On another occasion, I alerted the front desk staff to two issues. The room temperature was too high, and the in-room safe was not working. They promised to see to both. They did indeed lower the temperature (the control in the room had no effect), though it took the better part of a day to do it. But no one ever came to take care of the safe. I suspect it simply needed a fresh battery. These gaps in service were not enough to undermine what was a pleasant stay in every other way, but they do perhaps point to the need for a bit of additional staff training on sensitivity and service.
Bottom line: Depending on what you are in Ulsan for, the Hotel Hyundai could be a very good choice. I enjoyed it, and wouldn't mind staying there again if I don't need to be right in the heart of things. But I'll make sure I show up early for breakfast. :-)
Clean, comfortable, and quiet
LASeoulGuyon 06/04/2017 01:46I found this hotel to be a lot better than expected. The room was very clean and quiet. I also found the staff to be very professional especially at the Topaz restaurant. The buffet dinner and breakfast both had excellent food with a lot of variety. On top of that, it's next to a nice park (Hyundai Art Park) that had beautiful cherry blossoms while we were there. I would definitely come back!
Business & Ulsan tourist sites tour
suhyun kon 04/04/2017 10:31It is great hotel to travel. It's location is not near downtown so it is quiet to stay.
There're a lake and a park within 5 minutes on foot, east coast beach is only 5 minutes away by car which is I like the most about this Hyundai hotel.
Warm service, neat and delicious food as well.
I've heard even locals like this place to have a good time with family and friends.
