What People are saying

No Air Conditioning!?!

Brendan Son 23/06/2017 16:05

The Illuster is not a bad hotel, but I had the misfortune to visit this week when most of Europe was experiencing a heat wave and sadly my room had no air conditioning and was swelteringly hot.
The hotel is still in the middle of refurbishment, although I got the impression that most of the rooms have been finished now. The rooms have been done to a pretty high standard, although some of the colour choices are 'interesting'. But they are clean and have most of the things you would expect (small flat screen TV, small fridge, kettle and complementary tea, coffee and bottled water, etc.). However, the failure to add air conditioning as part of the refurbishment is inexplicable and unforgivable. The little fan provided instead just wasn't up to the job when it was plus 30° outside, and actually warmer inside as none of the public areas have air conditioning either!
As others have noted the view from the rooms is still mostly just scaffolding, although it's worth noting that it will be better for odd numbered rooms. I'd also refuse any room ending 01, since these are directly off the landing by the stairs and lifts, next to the corridor doors (which bang closed) and the communal smoking balconies.
Breakfast was a pretty limited offering but was okay, and staff seemed friendly and helpful enough. So generally, given the limited alternatives in Uster, I wouldn't mind staying again providing it wasn't too hot outside!

Nightmare hotel

It started with finding the entrance of the hotel. We drove with our car in the car park which is a building site. No sign whatsoever. The reception looks nice on the second floor but the hotel is one big buidling site. They are building a hotel with no airco in the small room.can you imagine that? It was so hot that night in the room. I didn't sleep at all. When I finally fell asleep at the end of the night we were suddenly woken at 7am by the builders who started their work. It is a big disgrace they open this hotel during the building. The photos on booking.com and the hotel site look nice but that is far from the reality. Stay away from this hotel. Perhaps when it is finished it might be ok but surely not when the weather is nice. Unless you like sleeping in a sauna.

The hotel is under construction and you feel it

tomer lon 29/05/2017 17:18

Even though we were told the hotel is under construction only from the outside we found ourselves in an unpleasant experience. The view from the hotel room was with scaffolds, the elevator's door looked like a child painted on it and look terrible, the new lobby looked nice but if you want to enter there you have to go through a room full of pipes and half broken walls.
the breakfast was poor.
The rooms were very hot because there was no air conditioner and I was afraid to open the window because of the scaffolds outside. the bed was nice, the bathroom very tiny.
The mall outside looks to me more like a crack with graffiti.

Nice room but...

Nice and clean room. Worth the price. But the blanket was waaaaay to small for two people. Looked like a blanket for children. We booked the room for the weekend, but the whole area is currently (February 2017) under construction so it could be a bit noisy during the week. Otherwise, everything was fine.

House is in Renovation - nice room

Metaxoson 18/11/2016 01:05

I stayed there one night. The hotel is middle in a big renovation. The room was clean an nice.

On the webpage they indicated that there can be some noise starting from 8 a.m. When I stayed there there where drillings already short past seven. The breakfast was ok but the location to get breakfast is poor. Noise and it seems to be a temporary solution.

The personel was kind and helpful. Even so I would not go back there before the renovation is completed.

Location is very central. Nice restaurant just nearby.
